Today is another double giveaway because I have awesome friends who love to help.
Remember to scroll down to the next giveaway from today.
One of today’s giveaway is hosted by my one my best friends from high school, Karyn.
We have actually been really good at staying in contact since high school (even before social networking) and we try to get together with all my high school girlfriends every couple months.
It is always a great time when we get together.
We have been there for each other through all of life’s ups and downs.
Karyn now lives in Nephi with her husband and three beautiful kids.
Here is what she has to say:
Kristin and I have been friends since high school. I'm so grateful that our group of friends have stuck together over the years and helped each other out through some extremely difficult times.
Part of my personality is a fixer. I love to "fix" a problem or help someone find solutions to a problem. When I found out about Ruby it was one of those times that I had no idea what to do or how to help Kristin. I didn't want to bother her too much, but I also didn't want her to feel alone and like I didn't care. I'm not always good at expressing my feelings to a person, to let them know I love and care about them. I think about Kristin and her family and wonder how she is doing, and this year I am honored to participate in celebrating Ruby's 2nd birthday. I have been thinking about what I could give as my giveaway and nothing seemed to come to mind and couldn't find my "perfect thing I was looking for". One night a couple weeks ago when I couldn't sleep I was thinking about what I could do. These few words kept coming into my mind, and then more, and more so I got up and wrote them down.
For Ruby June
I wonder where you are tonight,
Is there someone there to hold you tight?
I wonder how you'll come to know,
How to laugh, love and grow.
When I look at the stars I think of you,
I wonder if you miss me too.
Will you remember time you spent with me,
I love you more than you'll ever see
When these feelings become too much,
I feel His love around me touch.
I no longer wonder where you'll be
You're with the One who created me.
He'll keep you safe , until I'm there,
And bare my burdens I cannot bare.
For he knows my sorrow when I feel alone,
He lost his life behind that stone.
When the road is hard and lonely,
I lean on Him to help me see
My child's with Him in a better place,
Filled with love, peace, and grace.
He is the One holding you tight,
He'll show you happiness, truth and light.
I'll think about you everyday,
For now in His loving arms you'll stay.
I like to write, not poetry, but this has never happened to me before. It was a neat experience that I won't forget, and I feel like it was God's way of helping me feel like I could possibly help comfort Kristin in anyway.
I chose this red clock to give away in memory of the short amount of "time" Ruby spent here on earth, but how she left such an everlasting and deep impression on everyone. Also, it reminds me to cherish the time I have with my kids and loved ones, and appreciate the little stuff.
There is nothing that I have found that brightens someone's spirit more than service. So for this giveaway, write someone a thank you note that has touched your life....in anyway. It could be a neighbor, family member, teacher, friend, even someone you don't know very well that was kind to you. Tell us about it!
Thank you Kristin for letting me participate in this awesome celebration of Ruby's life!
What a neat giveaway.
I LOVE this clock.
I was also brought to tears when she sent me this poem.
It truly was something I needed to hear.
Thank you, Karyn, for getting up and writing those words down.
Winner will be announced for this giveaway on October 30th.
Good luck and keep scrolling to enter the other giveaways!
Love the poem, it is so beautiful! Being diagnosed in June with Ovarian Cancer makes me so appreciative of clocks and time! Every small moment in my life is no longer small but a huge reason to celebrate because for now I have time to make the most of every moment with family and friends! Terah Young
ReplyDeleteHow thoughtful. I think I will write thank yous to all the ladies that I serve with at church. They always make my load lighter! - Chelsea Rowley
ReplyDeleteThat poem is beautiful. I love love love clocks!! I wrote a little note to someone just yesterday who was feeling down, hope it lifted her spirits. Thanks to whomever lifted my spirits yesterday by sending me a beautiful bouquet of flowers with a little note that just said "Hope you have a good day"!
ReplyDeleteAfter I read the giveaway challenge, I pulled a thank you card out of my desk drawer at work and wrote a thank you card to another teacher here at school who has always helped me when I need it. Love the clock and love the reminder to "thank" people. :)

What a beautiful poem, and awesome clock. I have always admired how you have stayed close with your highschool friends. What a blessing.
ReplyDeleteI am going to write a note to my brother and his wife to thank them for their awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteToday, I will write a thank you note to my colleague for helping me laugh when I was frustrated and upset.
ReplyDeletethe poem is perfect as is the red clock! i decided to send a note to a good friend who is always there to listen to my complaints/concerns. i was lucky enough to meet her a few years ago and right away i knew we would be good friends. we are in similar situations in life right now and its so nice to have someone who understands the joys and struggles of being a mom/wife/etc. she is definitely a blessing in my life!
ReplyDeleteThe poem is so beautiful. Last year I was pregnant when Ruby had her 1st birthday, but I lost my baby girl a month later. Reading what everyone has to say about Ruby makes my little girl feel close too. This poem is so beautiful and you really found the right words for so many feelings. One of my friends across the street, who is also an angel mom, watched my kids for 8 hours while waiting for my mom to come when I went to the hospital to have my rainbow baby. I have been meaning to do something for her to thank her, and I think a really heart felt note (with some other stuff) will be perfect. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat poem made me cry! Even though they cant read, I have, and will write more little notes to my son's; including my angel baby. They mean the world to me. Love that clock, you have the best friends ever.
ReplyDeleteLora
Love the poem!! Just beautiful! You have amazing people in your life! Since, technically texting isn't a note, I texted several of my family members that live internationally...since a letter to Paris would take while to get there! I am lucky in that the "in-laws" of my family are wonderful. Wonderful post for an obviously great friend!

I am going to write a thank you note tomorrow to a sweet grandma in my ward who has been serving me ever since I moved here less than a year ago. She sits with us in sacrament meeting, cleans my kitchen, brings over toys, watches my kiddos, and runs errands for me. She has been a very special gift to me since having my twins. And, all throughout she has been suffering through a serious neck injury, a son's blood clot, and a husband's kidney disease. She is my example of charity.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful poem and clock!
ReplyDeleteToday I e-mailed my mentor. She is on a two week missions trip in Mexico. I thanked her for all that she has taught me, and how she has encouraged my life. She helped mold me into the mother that I am, and I'm so grateful to her for taking the time to help me to become a better wife, mother and overall woman.
Love the clock, love Karyn and Love you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful poem! I wrote a thank you note to our realtor for sticking with us through the purchase of our new home, it took a while because we bought a short sale but he was amazing through the whole crazy process!
ReplyDeleteUmmmm...trying to see through the tears from that BEAUTIFUL "poem." It is EXACTLY what I needed to hear today! Just today I made plates of treats & thank you's for my RS presidency- they do SO much for our ward & have do and do SO much for me. They are AMAZING women and I wanted them to know I love & appreciate them.

Love the clock! I recently wrote a thank you note to a church leader who helped me through some rough times ten years ago and taught me a lesson I was recently blessed to share with some young women. It brought back some really good memories writing to him,
ReplyDeleteI wrote a thankyou note to a woman who has been my strength the past fews years with her kind words and encouragement.
ReplyDeleteCassie Smith
Thank you for sharing and writing this beautiful poem. I love it. Love the red clock too. I have a love of clocks. It's weird I know. But it true!
ReplyDeleteI have a million thank you notes to write. I have received so much kindness from family and friends after losing my Ruby. I decided to take the first step and write a few thank yous today. I couldn't finish reading the poem the first time through, it is truly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteRachel Drake
This is such a beutiful way of celebrating the life of a sweet little angel.
ReplyDeleteI took the time to email a woman who has been a great source of strength to me. I call her a mentor. She is currently serving in a missions trip in Mexico, but I felt I needed to thank her for being a rock in my life.
Love Love Love this retro clock - and the poem is beautiful!! Today, I'll be writing a thank you note to the sweet gal who was the first person to invite us into her home for dinner when we first moved to Seattle!
ReplyDeleteI love this clock! I will write a note to a good friend who has been helping me a lot the past few weeks!
ReplyDeleteI think hand written thank you notes are such a treasured gift. People don't seem to write as much as in years past. There are always people in our lives to thank. Too often we take people for granted and take much of what they do for us and we don't acknowledge their efforts. I am going to take awhile the rest of this afternoon and spend some time thanking some people that have been there for me when I've needed them. They always seem to lift me up and set me straight again. They show Christ like patience and kindness in being a true friend.
ReplyDeleteI wrote a thank you note to my husband's parents. They have done a lot for us lately, and I hadn't gotten a chance to write them a note yet (insert procrastination excuse here), so this was a great chance to just sit down and do it.
