Today’s giveaway is hosted by my sister-in-law, Heather.
Heather is married to Jared’s brother, Greg, and they have 5 beautiful children.
I’m so lucky to have wonderful in-laws, they really have welcomed me into the family with open arms.
Heather was able to come to Vegas and meet Ruby when we gave her a name and a blessing.
She then turned around and came right back to help out with Luke when my family had to leave for my grandpa’s funeral.
She was willing to drop everything for us (along with other family members) and come to our rescue.
She did so much for us during that time, she was a lifesaver.
From taking care of Luke, to grocery shopping and preparing meals, she did it all.
We were so thankful for her willingness to help us.
Heather is going to be giving away a red stained glass star from Piggy&Dirt’s Etsy shop.
If you read Stephanie Nielsen’s blog, the Nie Nie Dialogues you are probably familiar with these.
They are very popular and so so so pretty!
I definitely want one for myself!
Here is what Heather has to say:
In the very beginning when Jared and Kristin started dating I knew they had something special together. My Husband and I were so excited when Jared asked us to help set up the area where he would purpose to Kristin. We felt honored and excited to be a small part of that day. Moving forward when her pregnancy with Luke was announced we - (all extended family) were super excited for them to start this new phase of parenthood. I knew they would be fabulous parents and their kids would be adorable! And I was right. They are amazing parents and have beautiful children. When they announced Ruby's pregnancy we were again super excited for them and big brother Luke. Late in Kristin's pregnancy we helped move them to Vegas and soon after Ruby was born. I am SO grateful that we had the opportunity to see her and be present when Jared Blessed her. It was the most amazing blessing. Our time with her at the hospital was so sacred, it was hard to leave and come home. Ruby is a special little girl. Very special. She touched so many peoples lives before her birth, during the fifteen days she graced us with her presence here on Earth and still continues to touch many, many more. I chose this star because it reminds me of Ruby shining brightly and just looking at it brings such happiness. Of course it's red. Red has a whole new meaning now to our family. It will always remind us of Ruby and in reminding us of her helps us to do a little better each day and be a little kinder along the way. It represents a perfect little baby girl that was so perfect she was called home to work from the other side of the veil. Red represents service, faith, hope, strength, charity, and most of all love. Jared and Kristin are such great examples of goodly parents. I am glad they are a part of my life and continue to be examples to me. Thank you Jared and Kristin.
Happy Birthday Ruby June. We Love You.
To enter this giveaway leave a comment telling us your favorite childhood memory or a color/object/place that reminds you of childhood.
Winner will be announced October 30th.
Good luck and thanks Heather!
My favorite childhood memories took place at our cabin during the winter time. We would spend hours and hours sledding and my amazing dad was always there to take us up the hill one more time. After sledding my sweet mom was ready with hot chocolate. So many good times at the cabin with friends and family.

ReplyDeleteLove your giveaway! Hope I win!!!!!
I really love this.. I think I will order one for myself if I don't win. I love what ur sister in law said it represents! My favorite childhood memory is playing outside in our back yard with my sibilingsm we had so much room to run and play build forts and other things!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite childhood memory is camping with my family. We would go just about every weekend all summer long!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite childhood memories are all associated with traditions--cinnamon rolls at conference, cutting down a Christmas tree at Apple Hill, picking out our birthday meals. So special and fun to remember!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I have so many favorite childhood memories. I think some of my favorites are coming to Utah every summer for a month and hanging out with all of my family. Family means so much to me. I love these giveaways! It brings the spirit so strongly every time I read what the givers say about Ruby. Love it.
ReplyDelete"The other side of the veil"; that is very lovely. My favorite childhood memory is just sitting around my parents pool & playing cards with my parents and older brother. It will be, by far, the most treasured thing I carry from my childhood and something I hope I can give to my own kids in whatever form.

My favorite memories come from visiting my grandparents... my grandma's green room, sitting at my grandpa's feet during all the family get together (I think we both just wanted to escape the noise), walking hand in hand to get an ice cream or cookie with my grandpa, grandma always having fresh raisin cookies in her cookie jar, the toy drawer... Lots of fun. Mostly the memories just remind me of the love we shared. I miss them :-) Heather, your words were very sweet. Happy birthday Ruby!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite childhood memories involve our holiday traditions and family summer vacations. One of my favorite is at Christmas time when all of us kids would set up camp around the Christmas tree on Christmas night and my parents would encourage us to try to stay awake for Santa's arrival. We were never successful but made a lot of fun memories over the years.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite childhood memories is my brothers teasing me and hanging me over the stairs, It reminds me that when my kids are big they will look back on the things they are currently doing, that drive me nuts, and cherish them.
ReplyDeleteThis is kind of a dumb answer, but there's a certain kind of tree that reminds me of my childhood because my grandparents had one that I used to climb all the time. I can't remember what kind it is, and google is not helping. :) It's the BEST tree climbing tree, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm BreighAn, too. :)
DeleteMy lands...sorry this is turning into a novel! My grandpa just called me back with the name of the tree...a Modesto Ash. They're awesome! And I used to collect the locust shells that would be stuck on the tree in my grandma's fancy boots. I bet she loved that. ;)
DeleteHey, I used to know Heather. I loved her!
ReplyDeleteMy childhood memory is waking up early every morning to practice the piano. I think that's what came to mind first because this is the first year my kids have been getting up early to practice before school and IT IS HARD. While I didn't always appreciate it then, I am so glad my mom didn't let me quit!
For me, smells are some of my favorite memories. Vanilla candles remind me of a Christmas village my mom used to have. One of the houses had a place for a small candle. The smell of sugar cookies makes me think of Valentines Day, when my mom would always make heart-shaped cookies. And when I smell leaves in the fall I think of going trick-or-treating when I was little. Just to name a few.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of my favorite childhood memories revolve around being with my family. Every summer we would visit my grandparents in Oregon (I lived in Las Vegas until high school) and I remember spending those summer days exploring the woods, building forts, going to the beach, canoeing, bike riding, and just loving being together. When I was four or five my grandpa told me that their mail was delivered by the Mail Mouse. I believed him to my core and would fight to the point of tears with anyone who told me that the Mail Mouse was not real. My faith paid off as that Christmas and every Christmas, birthday, or just because occasion since then I have gotten gifts from the "Mail Mouse." My grandparents have been on five missions all around the world and it just so happened that they "ran into" the Mail Mouse in each country they were in. I'm 32 years old and I still get a little bit giddy every time I see a parcel marked with the return address " Mail Mouse: Anywhere, USA."
ReplyDeleteFavorite memories include: family vacations to the Oregon Coast, and the car rides there, spending time with my dad at work (he's a farmer, so I could just ride around the farm with him in his truck, tractors, etc, and family parties with my cousins. So many great memories made.
ReplyDeleteI remeber very fondly going to my grandparents house every Sunday and playing in the backyard with all my cousins. My dads side of the family is very large so there was always lots of cousins to play with. We would play capture the flag, freeze tag, red rover or we would sneak into my grandpas garden and eat his raspberries and strawberries. We went for walks around the block and would just sit on the porch and talk. I loved every minute of it! I am just so grateful that I can live close to my family now so we can go and visit grandma's house and my children can make the same memories with their cousins!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful star. I might have to order one for myself. they would look beautiful in a window. Heather you are so amazing, and I know you have been such a strength to Kristin.
ReplyDeleteShe seems like sub a good sister in law. My favorite childhood memory was going to my grandmas house in Idaho and playing night games with all my cousins on the farm. So fun! I also have many memories from KOA :).
ReplyDeleteI loved camping with my family as a kid! Great memories. Cassie Smith
ReplyDeleteI started reading NieNie when I got home from the hospital. Although vastly different trials, I could relate to many of the feelings and healing processes she has gone through. I love the video of her climbing the Y for the first time after the accident and what a monumental and symbolic thing that was. Just on Saturday I ran the Halloween Half and I felt so many of those same parallels to life. Anyway, I love these stars! What a beautiful addition they would be in any home. Decorating for Christmas brings so much warmth and memories. I love the way my mom strung garlands down our big, beautiful staircase in our foyer and I try to recreate it on our stairs. (this would probably be my favorite thing;)) Julie Anne
