Come What May & Love It

For a couple of months now I have been thinking about actually having a title for our blog instead of just “The Warburtons”.

I have thought of a lot of different titles, but there is one quote that keeps coming to mind.

It is the title to one of my favorite talks ever written by my favorite Apostle, Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin.

I have quoted this talk before in my very first post written on this blog, but it applies to so many different situations that I just love re-reading it.

I am drawn to all of Elder Wirthlin’s talks. He just has a way of writing about topics that resonate with me. I was deeply saddened when I heard of his passing.

Many of his talks have helped me through some of my greatest struggles and trials.

I highly, HIGHLY, recommend reading it. You will get something out of this talk no matter what your situation. No matter if you are a member of the church or not.

Here is the link: http://lds.org/general-conference/2008/10/come-what-may-and-love-it?lang=eng&query=come+may+love

If you decide not to read it, at least read these two paragraphs from it. These are the two paragraphs that give me a lot to think about:

Every life has peaks and shadows and times when it seems that the birds don’t sing and bells don’t ring. Yet in spite of discouragement and adversity, those who are happiest seem to have a way of learning from difficult times, becoming stronger, wiser, and happier as a result.

How can we love days that are filled with sorrow? We can’t—at least not in the moment. I don’t think my mother was suggesting that we suppress discouragement or deny the reality of pain. I don’t think she was suggesting that we smother unpleasant truths beneath a cloak of pretended happiness. But I do believe that the way we react to adversity can be a major factor in how happy and successful we can be in life.

Come what may and love it.

This is the new title for my blog.

This title for me is a lot to take in because love is a strong word, but his talk gives suggestions on how we can do this and I am going to try to apply them to my life every day.

No matter what situation comes our way, we can learn from it and eventually love it.

  1. I clicked on the link to read that talk today. Love the quote. I think that is so fitting that you used it in the very first post you did! I think it's a great title.

I went to your sister's blog, had no idea she was a photographer. Those pictures are gorgeous. You are beautiful Kristin! And of course the ones of Luke are the cutest thing ever!

I was laughing hysterically the last post about him shaking his head about sharing the smoothie, "Yukes!" Lincoln never shares with me, "No!" he says with a mischievous smile and I think it is so funny, even if he's being a little stinker!

  3. Love these thoughts and love that you chose it as a title...I was very moved by the words in that talk as well.

Love the maternity session and Luke's session too. You do look like you're 12 days and not 33 weeks though...LOL
