We made it safe and sound to York, PA.
Luke did great on the flights.
He was so excited and kept asking a million questions, which made it fun for me to see him so excited.
He kept me on my toes though.
I was constantly switching between movies, puzzles, snacks, and books to keep him occupied.
When the DVD player battery ran out, I even let him watch cartoon network, Spongebob no less.
He wasn’t interested which made me happy.
No meltdowns occurred until we got off the plane for our layover when I forgot to let him push the button on the elevator.
That’s when I knew he was getting tired.
As I pushed him through the airport waiting for our next flight he fell asleep, which surprised me but made me so happy.
He is getting better and better at falling asleep wherever he is if he is tired.
I wasn’t expecting him to sleep so this was just an added bonus.
The next flight was a lot shorter so it was easy, breezy.
Let’s hope the flights home go just as smooth.
Luke adjusted to the 3 hour time difference without any problems. He was up at 7am which is 4am Vegas time so we just rolled with it.
On Friday we took the kids to a park and then hit the Eastern Market for fresh produce and baked goods.
This is where we met a lot of Amish people.
The Eastern Market is only open on Fridays and it has a lot of yummy foods.
We had crème-filled doughnuts with peanut butter whipped frosting.
We spent the rest of the night watching a movie with kids and eating pizza.
Luke has been in heaven with all his cousins around.
It has been non-stop play time for him.
Yesterday we took a drive into Lancaster, PA.
We went to the Whoopie pie festival.
The kids got to do a whoopie pie treasure hunt, whoopie pie launch, bounce house and pony rides.
Luke is definitely his father’s son. He couldn’t get enough of the horse and kept saying, “more again”.
We then took a drive to see the trains. It was Day out with Thomas so it was a packed house, but they still got to see Thomas so it was a success.
We stopped for ice cream at a cute little shop where we met more Amish.
(Beehive in ice cream shop)
A father and daughter rode up on their buggy and parked right next to us.
After the ice cream we took a drive around Lancaster county.
We saw lots of Amish families, farms, beautiful houses, and the Amish schoolhouse.
We saw the cutest Amish boy mowing the lawn with old fashion grass cutter.
Most Amish children were riding around on their bike-scooters.
It was fun to see the simple life and discover a new culture.
Pennsylvania is really breath-taking.
I definitely could live in most of these neighborhoods.
Green grass, big yards, enormous trees and beautiful farm house with tons of character.
Once we got home from our drive, me and my sisters left for the York State Fair where we saw Lauren Alaina in concert.
*Funny side story: She walked down the aisle singing, giving everyone high fives and her microphone was in the hand that was closest to me. So instead of giving her a high-five I gave her arm a high-five so pretty much I slapped her arm. I couldn’t stop laughing. I felt like I was a thirteen year old girl trying to touch a rock star. We had a good laugh all night about that one.*
We devoured a red velvet funnel cake before making our way home.
Today we attended church and this evening went back to the church to watch my niece become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by being baptized.
Both me and my sister, Lindsay gave talks during the program.
It was a beautiful day and I am so proud of her for making this decision.
I am so glad we decided to make the trip out here to support her in this decision.
We still have a couple more days here hopefully filled with more fun events.
Sounds like you guys are having a great time. Glad Luke did good on the plain. I love Lancaster. When we lived in PA we went there to check it out. It is SO pretty!
