Why I Like Vegas

One of the most frequently asked questions to me is how do you like Vegas?

So here is my answer:

I like it.

And here’s why:

For me, my lifestyle doesn’t change much from one city to another.

I am a mom.

That means doing mom things no matter where we are.

I figure that I can pretty much adapt anywhere as long as there is a Target, a pool, a park, and a library (in that order) close by, I am good to go.

Here are some other reasons why I like it:

- Winters, we can actually go outside in the wintertime and stay outside for a long time.

- Winco, they opened up my favorite grocery store a couple months ago and now I officially have every store that I need, including DownEast.

- Libraries, I have mentioned this before but their libraries are incredible. There are 7 libraries close by that I can check out books from, they will even transfer books for me to a closer library. The libraries have child play areas, puzzles and games, story times, and movie nights.

- Recreation Centers, this is where the pools are located. They have indoor and outdoor pools all over. Plus, this is where Luke takes all his fun classes. These classes have been the best thing for him. We start up a toddler time class in a couple weeks where he will get to go all by himself! Yay for mom time.

- Parks, there are really great parks all over the place. They usually have a canopy over it and a splash pad which make them bearable every once in a while in the summer.

- Friends, I have made awesome friends out here. Our ward is incredible. There are so many people out here that I can call to go do things with. I feel like I have made lifelong friends out here. This is the ONE thing I will really miss if we ever move.

- Close to Utah, if we are living out of state Vegas is a pretty quick drive to get back to Utah. We go back pretty often and it is only because it is so close.

So there you have it.

Now if you were to ask Jared the same question you probably wouldn’t get the same response.

If you asked me if I wanted to stay here in Vegas, my answer would be no.

I don’t want to stay here long term for many reasons.

There are quite a few things that I don’t like about Vegas as well (my do not like list would be just as long if not longer), but I am trying to keep this upbeat since that is just the type of person I am ;)

One of those things that I am not in love with right now is this:

Notice the time? It doesn’t cool off here at night.

I think this is what hell feels like, and I am living in it.

  1. Woo hoo! Way to be optimistic. It is so tough living in this heat. I miss Utah also! Amen about it not cooling off at night either. That's totally us. Bleh. But we also have the cool splashpad/canopy parks thing going on, so that's a plus.

  2. I totally agree with the heat thing! We are a little bit cooler than Vegas, but I still feel like I live on the surface of the sun! We don't have many fun parks either. We tried the splash pad the other day & lasted maybe 20 mins. We tend to kick it inside a lot of the time. I'm glad you are liking Vegas!

  3. Ahh it is too hot there! But you totally give good reasons to why it would be a fun place to live. If we are ever in Vegas again we will have to meet up :)
