We have had a very eventful weekend.
Friday night Jared’s parent came into town.
It was going to be a quick stop on their way to Utah to see/help with my sister-in-law’s (their daughter) new baby, Taylor.
Adorable, isn’t she?
It was a nice night spending time with them until Luke decided he didn’t want to go to bed and threw one of the biggest tantrums I have ever seen.
As I was carrying him up the stairs, he kept kicking me in the same spot, apparently really hard too because later that night my knee felt so sore.
I looked down and noticed a big ol’ bruise! (Just look at the bruise, not the fact that this picture angle makes my leg look ridiculously big)
I also re-pinched my sciatic nerve in the process of trying to carry/calm him down.
Fun, huh?
He was so worked up that I finally put him in the shower to “cool down”.
Hey, it was worth a try.
It didn’t work.
Hmmmm…
Or maybe it did?
He didn’t like it one bit.
It made him even more mad.
But maybe next time I will just ask him if he needs another “cool down shower” and that will be enough.
Let’s just hope there isn’t a next time.
Anyway, the next morning before Jared’s parents left, Jared and I made a quick trip to the temple while they watched Luke.
When we returned home Jared’s dad wasn’t in good shape.
He was having severe stomach pains.
Jared took him to get checked out before they were going to head out on the road to Utah.
It turns out his stomach pain was more serious and they told him he needs his appendix out.
Jared and his dad spent all day Saturday in the hospital while they ran tests and figured out a time for surgery.
In the meantime I had planned to have a Olympics' Opening Ceremonies party that night so Luke and I were busy getting things ready for that.
After Luke went to bed all the guests arrived to party it up.
Amid all the hospital chaos, the party was a hit.
Jared made it back from the hospital half way through the party so he was able to have some fun as well.
We ate treats, “mingled”, watched the opening ceremonies, and then played minute-win-it games.
I ended up winning the gold medal, which I honestly don’t know how that happened because I felt like I couldn’t complete any task because I was laughing too hard.
Enjoy the pics because I actually took some this time around:
{The food}
{Ready Spaghetti} (Couldn’t stop laughing on this one!)
{A bit dicey} (Again, I started laughing so hard because my popsicle stick was shaking so fast)
{Penny Hose} (I tore it up on this one!)
{Face the cookie} (I was the only one that couldn’t do this)
{Stack Attack} (Tore it up on this one, too)
{Elephant March}
{Junk in the Trunk}
{The winners}
Such a fun night! Now I need to start planning my big Halloween Bash.
Who’s coming?
Now back to Jared’s dad….As of today I still don’t know when the surgery will be, they have had a couple of set backs but hopefully it will happen tonight.
I told Jared that unexpected things always happen when people visit us.
My dad’s truck broke down when he was trying to leave town and ended up staying a week longer.
My sister’s little girl got a double ear infection and they had to bail out early to get her home.
And now this?
Crazy! Maybe it’s a sign.
I am not sure what kind of sign, but definitely a sign.
What a fun party! So cute. And good luck to your father-in-law. I hope the surgery and recovery all goes well!
ReplyDeletelooks like you guys had fun! What a cute idea :) Hope your father in law is ok :)
ReplyDeleteJust admit it...you spent all day practicing the events and that's why you won the gold. :) JK. Thanks for planning and hosting us! Your new niece is adorable. I hope everything goes smoothly with Jared's dad.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like fun. I want to know how you made the metals. I could really use this idea for some school events. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOK so you are the hostess with the mostest and I want to come to your party next time. Fondue and bachlorette and food, games and olympics. So much fun. Hope your father in law is doing better.
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that?!?! I love all the cute ideas. How crazy that Luke gave you that bruise. Poor you. ;) Kids are rough...trust me I have one. I asked Phil the other day what he thought the odds of us having "another Brigs" was? haha
