Long Beach, What & Lamps

We decided to head out to Long Beach to visit Jared’s parents for the long weekend.

His parents are serving a mission there and we thought it would be fun to make another trip to see them.

Long Beach is such a great vacation spot with lots to do.

The weather was perfect and a little breezy. I packed for Vegas weather and not beach-y, spring weather, but it all worked out.

We spent most our time sight-seeing, relaxing, and visiting with his wonderful parents.

I know I have said this before but I just love my in-laws. They are some of the nicest, sweetest people I have ever met.

Here is our weekend in pictures:

We started out our day by flying model airplanes. Luke enjoyed his remote control car that grandpa gave him.

We had to stop by Luke’s favorite park to feed the ducks. He fed them his cereal but then was bugged there wasn’t any left for him.

We headed out to Seal beach only to be blown away by the wind. Luke still enjoyed it and got pretty wet. We had to hose him down before leaving.

On our way back from the beach we ran across this little sweet spot and had to get a picture. {Love you Ruby!}

We finished the day off by eating at a yummy Thai restaurant. I love Thai food.

Luke made himself comfortable on the lounge chairs outside of the restaurant (and on the horse statue).

The next day we went to church where Luke LOVED nursery. They have an inside/outside nursery room with all sorts of fun toys. That evening we got to attend a missionary farewell fireside.

The next day was Memorial day. We spent the day washing mission cars and sight-seeing. We saw a fabulous view of Catalina Island from Angel’s Gate Park where the Korean Bell of Friendship is located.

We got really lucky while we were there. Jared’s dad knew someone that might be interested in buying our car for one of his daughters. He came and looked at it and wanted it. We were shocked and excited! We weren’t planning on selling because we had just fixed a bunch of things, but we knew we would need to upgrade soon. It is a little small for us and we need something a little more reliable so we were willing to sell.

Jared’s dad is also in charge of selling the mission cars once they reach a certain mileage. We took a look at the options and found one that would work for us. We were able to sell and buy a new (new to us) car all in the same day. We are super excited about it.

It was a little sad leaving my little car there, but on to bigger and better things! Jared, on the other hand, was more than willing to get rid of my car. He said a couple weeks ago, “I have hated that car from day one.” I actually got a little defensive about this comment :)

Saying goodbye to my car:

We had a great weekend spending time with Elder and Sister Warburton, but we miss seeing them on a regular basis.

Let me just say that Luke is such a better traveler now that he is older. He did awesome sleeping, napping, eating, and riding in the car.

For the record:

Luke has started to say what? after everything.  I think it is his way of saying why? but it is getting super confusing.

Luke: Snack, please

Me: Sorry, I didn’t bring a snack

Luke: What?

Me: I didn’t bring one

Luke: What?

Me: I didn’t bring one

Luke: What?

Me (realizing he means why?): Because I forgot

Luke: Oh

I was dropping our old monitor off at Goodwill today. The lady in front of me was getting rid of a whole bunch of stuff along with some lamps.

I asked her, are you getting rid of these cute lamps?

She said yes, I don’t have a place for them anymore, you want them?

Ummm, YES!

So we hurried and grabbed them out of the pile as they were hauling it off and I made out of there like a bandit.

Do I need new lamps?

No, but will I take them if they are free?

Absolutely and you better believe I will find a place for them.

SCORE!!!

Today was Luke’s last day of Gymboree for awhile.

We are taking a break until the end of summer while we will be traveling a little.

He had to get a picture with Gymbo.

The Gymbo song is something we sing frequently around our house, even as a bedtime song.
