Happy Memorial Day weekend!
We are so excited for the 3-day weekend here at our house.
We need this time to unwind as a family.
We have had a lot on our minds lately and we just need a break.
We have big plans for the weekend and hopefully I will remember to take lots of pictures to share with you.
Since we won’t be in Utah to visit Ruby’s grave on Memorial Day we spent Monday night talking about what Memorial Day is all about.
We made handprint lilies to display in a vase all week to remind us of her and this special day.
Not only are we remembering Ruby, but our ancestors and the men and women who fought and still fight for our freedom.
Thank you!!
Side tid-bit: Did you know that Memorial Day used to be called Decoration Day because everyone would decorate the graves of soldiers on this day? (Thanks to the children’s section at the library I learn all kinds of things)
I have been busy working on Father’s Day gifts and they are turning out so great. I will share once the big day arrives.
Did you know Jared’s birthday always fall within the same week as Father’s Day?
Double duty.
This year his birthday is the day before.
That means I have to be double nice ALL WEEKEND.
Sheesh.
I have also been gathering items for Ruby’s grave for the 4th of July.
I found the cutest socks for her and might have to find a way to put them on her grave where they won’t blow away.
SO CUTE, huh?
I have also been busy deciding what classes to enroll Luke in this summer.
They have a one day a week preschool for 2 & 3 year olds and I think he would love it.
Plus, I would get a little free time. It’s a win-win.
We are getting excited to go to Utah this summer.
My sister and her kids will be visiting for the whole month of June so we will probably be spending most of our time there as well.
Utah’s weather will probably feel chilly compared to what we have been dealing with. Well maybe not chilly.
I have finalized my design for Ruby’s headstone so I am anxious to get back to Utah to see it is something the memorial company can actually put in stone for me.
Luke has been doing awesome potty training. My little plan is working (thanks to a $30 craigslist purchase).
I just hope the excitement doesn’t start to wear off. Plus with a holiday weekend I hope we can keep it up.
One last thing…when did Las Vegas become the windy city?
I knew it was hot here, but I never thought of Vegas as being windy.
It is windy every other day here.
It was so windy last night that I couldn’t sleep it was so loud.
Someone please explain.
The socks are DARLING!
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend is a good one, I love having a long weekend to spend with my husband.
Love the decor. Your hubby's birthday must be the same as Brigs. (16th) That is serious double duty. Phil's sometimes lands on mothers day and I really hate that. haha
ReplyDeleteLove the socks and the flowers. Can't wait to see what you are making for fathers day. I need a good idea.
