Our weekend, a new baby & baby names

I feel like my blog posts are going to be getting less and less frequent for two reasons:

1) I am working Monday and Wednesday mornings and spend the rest of my day spending time with Luke and catching up on household items that I don’t have time to turn on the computer.

2) Luke is hit and miss with his afternoon nap, which was the perfect blogging time for me, so now I am left to fit it in at night after he goes to bed which never happens. We are trying to replace nap time with quiet time though so hopefully I can still get some blogging done during that time.

Another big thing is I have been awfully tired lately and whenever I get some downtime I just want to nap.

We have stayed pretty busy around here the last week though.

My older sister and her family were in town this last weekend and we spent most of our time with them including game night, dinners and an afternoon of bowling.

We are all crossing our fingers that they decide to move back to Utah this summer.

It will be the first time that all three of us (meaning my sisters) will have lived in Utah at the same time since becoming married.

On Sunday we spent time with Jared’s family.

His parents recently returned home from serving a 2 year mission in Long Beach and we attended their church to listen to their homecoming talks.

I have to include that Luke fell asleep sitting on Jared’s lap in church, it was a true Sunday miracle. It is a rare occurrence when something like that happens.

Since Monday was President’s day Jared had the day off, but I worked that morning.

My boss said we don’t take off fake holidays. Only the President gets that day off :)

Jared took Luke fishing for the second time and they caught a fish this go around.

Luke was freezing, but insisted on bringing it home. He didn’t want to eat it, but wanted Jared to eat it.

Luke takes after Jared with his love of the mountains, nature, and being outside.

Jared has taken Luke up in the mountains quite a bit since returning home and he loves every minute of it.

Soon we will have another boy that can tag along as well while I hit up the spa and have some alone time.

After work on Monday I brought my niece home with me to spend the next couple of days with us.

My little sister was going to be induce early Tuesday morning to meet her new little baby boy.

We took Luke and London to ride the Front Runner train on Monday night but it wasn’t running because of President’s day so we took them out to eat instead.

The next day was spent waiting in anticipation to meet my new nephew.

Liam was born at 1:30pm and was as small as can be at 5 lb 12 oz.

We rushed over to the hospital to meet him in person.

Luke made sure to direct Liam down the hallway from the nursery as they wheeled him into Lindsay’s room walking backwards and motioning his arms while saying back it up, back it up.

Luke kept asking me where his little brother was and thankfully I can say he will be coming soon.

We are very happy Liam is here safe and sound.

Tomorrow night I will be spending time with some of my favorite girls for a night on the town in Salt Lake.

It will be a much needed night out.

Today I spent most my morning digging through Ruby’s 1725 pages of medical records to find 4 pages of genetic testing results to give to my perinatologist.

It was a fun time reading through all her chart notes/diagnoses/specific conversations & meetings held.

It never gets easy hearing/reading/thinking about all that happened with Ruby.

I am starting to feel very pregnant lately, which is a scary thing since I am only half way through.

I can definitely tell this is my third baby/pregnancy.

Luke is doing super.

Literally.

Everything to him is super.

“Mom, is it going to be a super long time?” “Can I be super all done?” It’s super scary/funny.”

He has also become a really great negotiator thanks to the book, Olivia.

“Luke, go pick one book to read.” “How about 5 books?” “No, how about 2?” “How about 4?”

“Luke, take three more bites and then you can be done.” “How about 1 more bite?”

He is quite the character with lots of snuggles, I love you’s and “you are my best buddy, mom.”

Jared and I have had quite a few conversations about what to name this new little guy of ours.

Why are names so hard?

I think it is the hardest part of pregnancy.

We have a short list of 4 names and I can’t decide.

I am torn between all of them.

How do you decide on a name?

Pick it out before and call them that name the whole pregnancy?

Wait to see what they look like?

Wait until you are almost due to decide?

Anyone have any great name suggestions?

My only stipulations are it has to be one or two syllables and 5 letters or shorter.

I am kind of a name snob, but give me all you got.

  1. Names are so rough! Try having 3 of the same gender! WHOA! haha If it were a girl I might have some suggestions but since it's a boy I am fresh out! haha I prefer short also! Good luck!

  2. Jess after Grandpa Jess Frampton
We always liked that. Don't ask me why we didn't use it. Boy names were harder for some reason.

hmm... well that's all I've got for right now. Maybe soomething will pop up later on. :) Good Luck!

  3. Harper was always Harper to us. We have two more names picked out as well, one for a boy and one for a girl. I randomly found a mermaid cabbage patch that had our other girl name (first AND middle). You can bet I bought it as quickly as I could.

Luke is a really cute name and Ruby is one of my favorites. I'm sure you'll find the right one, even if it takes some time. Congrats again on the pregnancy. I'm a bit jealous. I wish I were half way to having a new baby to love.

  4. I totally understand the not blogging. I am not even working any more and I don't have an excuse. I am trying to be a better mom and that by itself is exhausting. Boy names... nothing. After Brady, I don't think I will ever be able to choose a name before the baby is born. It's such a hard decision and I don't think I can commit. I think it's totally okay to have that short list and wait until he is born. I know with Ryan, I felt like Tanner was a boy that looked like him, Brady was a boy who didn't. So I had to see the baby. With all that dark hair, we went with Brady, and it's perfect. Don't feel pressured to decide now, although, worrying about that is more fun than any of the other worries. :)

  5. Boy names are hard! With Gavin I don't think we had a list of names until a couple of weeks before he was born, went to the hospital with 3 names that we liked, and then when he was born and had lots of wild hair, Gavin just seemed right (don't ask me why?) We don't even really have a list for this baby either. Ammon doesn't really seek out figuring out what to name our baby that won't be here for months still, if you know what I mean. :) I have a few I like, but I am indecisive and won't know until she is born. :) Good luck! If I hear any manly names I'll let you know!

  6. I am a pick the name and call them that kind of girl, but I know others like to pick it when they see them. I feel a connection when I can pick the name before, and call them that. I like all the names on your list. I am sure you will know when you see him.
