We would really like to give back this Christmas in honor of Ruby.
Even though we haven’t officially started a foundation for her, we would like to start making a difference now.
The NICU where Ruby stayed is in need of car seats.
The social worker told us there are a lot of families with babies in the NICU who cannot afford a car seat.
Therefore, there is no way to bring their babies home when it is time.
They are also in need of blankets and clothing to give out to those who need them.
I can’t even imagine the stress that would come with your baby being in the NICU and not having essential items for them as well.
Jared and I are going to try to provide them with some of these things.
If you are looking to give back this Christmas and would like to be involved, please contact me.

In other news:
Luke met Santa.
Our library held a small Santa program the other night.
They played a movie for the children. Of course it was about Max and RUBY, another wonderful reminder of my baby.
They acted out a puppet show with stuffed animals puppet. Luke had to get up and act out all the movements and sounds that come from each animal.
Then we waited in line to meet the jolly man himself.
He must still be working in his workshop judging on his attire.
Luke was a brave little boy, wasn’t scared at all.
He really wanted the candy cane he was handing out.
After, they served us juice and cookies.

One more exciting thing:
I entered a giveaway contest yesterday for mothers who had lost their babies.
I checked this morning and I had won!!
It is a beautiful necklace that says: I carry your heart with me, I carry it in my heart. It has a heart in the middle with Ruby’s name on it.
I will post a picture when I receive it.
YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a precious necklace/gift. I love that saying. You guys have been in my thoughts a lot lately... maybe we can get together when you come for xmas?!
ReplyDeleteMy mom has told me that Vegas hospitals are always in need of baby items. A lady in her ward works at a hospital there and one time, a lady had nothing but a diaper to take her baby home in. I hate that.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning the giveaway. That ee cummings poem is my favorite ever. It's so beautiful.
We would love to help out. I'll call you and talk to you. Just having Roo in the hospital the other day it was so nice for her to get a stuffed animal. They gave her the choice of that or a blanket - or she could take both. It helps even in the smallest of cases. I cannot wait to see your necklace.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you won!!! I will be in touch tomorrow to work out the details! xo
ReplyDeleteGlad you won the necklace- I love that quote! And I think your service project for the NICU is just awesome! If you'd like me to do a post on my blog for donations please let me know!
ReplyDeleteKristin I love your style of blogging. It is so easy and enjoyable to read.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE Max & Ruby around here. Which is why I was shocked when Reagan balked at the name when you asked her opinion. lol
Have you enjoyed the necklace from the bunco girls?
I just saw Brit's comment. Are you guys coming for Christmas? We should do a bunco group plus other ward friends, get together. I could host. Let me know if you can fit it in.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful thing to do in honor of Ruby!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the necklace, sounds lovely.

Yeah for Luke! I could never get my kids in the same room as Santa! He is very brave. And, so are you. Your posts are inspiring. I love the idea of doing service in memory of Ruby.
ReplyDeleteI love that you won that necklace. You deserve it. I am amazed at how much ruby seems to be surrounding you. Her name seems to be around every corner. I want to help. Let me know how. I think I will ask my ward to help as well.
