We had a pretty low-key new year’s celebration.
Jared had both new year’s eve and new year’s day off of work so it was nice to spend our time with him.
For new year’s eve we tried out a new Thai restaurant called Thai House.
We love Thai food and usually don’t stray from our favorite place in Vegas.
The food was pretty good so we weren’t disappointed, but I still think I like Pin Kaow better.
Luke loves Pad Thai so he was pleased.
I just love a night out so I was happy.
After dinner we had to stop off and get the yummiest, most-addicting treat ever.
Cinnamon rolls from Cici’s pizza.
These things are amazing and for me not loving Cici’s pizza at all, they know how to do cinnamon rolls.
We sent Luke off to bed (I am not a cool parent that let’s my little one stay up til midnight, I know the ramifications that would accompany a late bedtime for him and it ain’t pretty. No matter what time he goes to bed he is always up at 6:30am so that wasn’t happening) and Jared and I watched a movie.
I was about done for by 11:00pm which is not like me (I’m a night owl), but once the movie was over and we started talking about past memories we made it til midnight.
We heard all the fireworks going off and ran out in the road to see the casino firework show down on the strip.
Then we hit the hay.
It was probably the most low-key new year’s we have ever had, but I am good with that.
On new year’s day I kept with my parent’s tradition of hosting a shrimp and cheese fondue dinner.
I did chicken cordon bleu instead of steak like my parents do, but it was still yummy.
It wasn’t complete without some sparkling cider.
The cider was Luke’s favorite part.
We then reviewed our 2012 family goals and made new goals for 2013.
We accomplished about half of what we set out to do last year which isn’t too bad, but I am hoping we accomplish most everything on our list this year.
I worked on my personal goals today and I am trying to have a one word focus for the year.
Still debating between a couple words.
I am hoping and praying for good things to happen for our family this year.
2012 had it’s ups and down for not only me, but many of my family members and friends.
I felt a lot of heartache from those close to me and I am hoping that 2013 will be the year for everyone to experience joy and happiness.
Cheers to a great year!

5 things going on in our house:
1. Luke has become fascinated with telling time on our clock in our bedroom. I think this has stemmed from me telling him he needs to stay in bed until 7am (wishful thinking) and we can’t watch cartoons until then. He has become pretty good at recognizing certain numbers and definitely knows when it says 7.
2. I am getting things ready to have a Bachelor premier party at my house this coming Monday. It so happens to be my birthday the day before so I am also throwing myself a birthday party along with it. Hey, sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands, and this year I want a party.
3. Luke wanted me to rub lotion on him today “like a baby”. I thought he was just remembering when I use to put lotion on him, but he was very adamant that we lay on my bed and then he kept wanting to pinch my nose “like the baby”. I had no idea where this was coming from until a commercial came on for Johnson’s baby lotion and he said “see mom, like the baby.” The mother put the baby on the bed after a bath, rubbed lotion all over and then the baby grabbed the mom’s nose excitedly. I couldn’t stop laughing.
4. I just signed up for a cake decorating class and I am excited/nervous to see if I can figure this out. I would love to be able to decorated my kids’ birthday cakes without it looking like my kid did it himself.
5. I also just signed Luke up for a new class at the rec center called Look at me, I’m 3! It’s an introduction to preschool where he goes by himself for an hour one day a week. It’s not much but I like the idea of him going by himself and getting instructions from someone other than me.
Your night sounds so relaxing. Ours was like that too. And that is so fun you are doing a party with the bachelor premiere! I think 2013 will be a good year. Keeping my fingers crossed!
ReplyDeletehappy new year Kristin!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea on the class. I bet he will love it. I am so laughing about the baby. What kids come up with. happy new year. I am also trying to come up with a word. Still struggling.
ReplyDeleteI like the low key New Years Eve. I need to make up a fun New Years Day eating tradition, that is fun. I love that you are throwing yourself a party and the bachelor...fabulous! PS We do a light time for Brigs, works wonders. It has an night light attached that goes off at 7:30 and that is when he can come out. He usually plays in his room for 20 minutes until it goes off. SO NICE!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great New Years!! Your cinnamon rolls look amazing!! !
ReplyDeleteMy cousin had a baby girl yesterday and named her Ruby June. She is adorable so I of course thought of you and your sweet baby Ruby! I hope you are doing well. Have a great birthday and Bachelor party.
ReplyDeleteI took two cake decorating class's a few years ago. They are awesome! So much fun and there are so many things that you can create!
