Happy Birthday to me!

Today is my birthday.

32.

I cannot believe it.

Seriously.

Where did time go and when did I become 2 years into my 30’s?

Craziness.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep.

We have a lot going on right now in our house and it’s only the 6th day into the new year, but changes are in our future.

I will share more with you in later posts but lets get this birthday stuff out of the way first.

Last night Jared took me out to dinner to celebrate.

We got a babysitter and went to Planet Hollywood’s Koi restaurant for Sushi.

We spent the rest of the night walking around the Miracle Mile shops and buying some fun things.

It was so nice just to get out on a real date, we should do it more often (hint, hint).

Today I woke up to Mickey pancakes, something that Luke must have influenced.

Jared started to get creative and also made one of an angel.

I loved it.

I got spoiled with gifts, all of which Luke had to help me open.

He is very excited about anyone having a birthday.

We headed to church where it was Luke’s first day of primary.

It was a bittersweet moment leaving him there with all the older kids, but he gave me a kiss and a wave goodbye and he was set.

When I picked him up he told me he only cried once when the marble jar spilled over.

Who knows what really happened or how many times he really did get upset, but ignorance is bliss right?

After church we all had a nap and now Jared is preparing dinner and then we will have cake.

I will finish up my birthday celebrations with a new post once I throw my own party tomorrow, but it has been a good day.

****************************************************************************

Since there is a lot going on right now I want to hurry and write down a bunch of things that I don’t want to forget.

After I left my groceries in the car most of the day after just going to get them I realize my memory just isn’t what it use to be.

* Everyday when Luke wakes from his nap and he comes down the stairs I will say, “Hi Monkey, how was your nap?” His response every time is this: “I’m not monkey, I am Luke Owen boy, stop saying that!”

* Luke calls his underwear his wear-wears and lotion, ocean.

* Luke is really into secrets and surprises. He loves telling me secrets, they always consist of him being choo-choo Buzz Lightyear. He also loves to close my eyes and then hide something behind his back to show me and yell surprise.

* Luke has his first official mole. Yes, sad. The first of many I believe since both Jared and I are holey mole-ies. It’s just a tiny little dot on his chest but it definitely is a mole.

* I forgot to write about Luke’s run-in with a TV cabinet over Christmas break. He hit his head really hard on the corner of a TV cabinet Christmas night and it started bleeding right away. I thought we might be spending our Christmas in the ER, but after we got it cleaned up we realized it wasn’t split open and it would be just fine. Thank goodness. It has healed no problems since then.

* Luke has started to pay attention to the lines and cracks on sidewalks/flooring. He has tried to stay within the lines and “not step on a crack”. He wouldn’t want to break his mother’s back.

* Luke still uses sign language when I can’t understand him. He signs colors, the word girl, cereal, full, all done, and many others while telling me the word also. I love that it is still helping us out to this day, it is a life saver sometimes.

* Luke’s language cracks me up all the time.  I hear this all day long: “What you said?” “What her say?”

* He still calls me mama Kristin, but he has figured out that his last name is my last name so now he calls me Kissin Wardon.

* He also likes to sing the theme song to Thomas the Train and whenever I start singing it he says, “this is mine and daddy’s song, you no sing.” I will ask what I can sing and he says mommy just does exercise. (I have started a new exercise routine that I have been doing for about a month and I love it.)

Sorry for the jumbled mess of a post, I promise to post something more in depth and interesting (what, moles aren’t interesting to you?) in the next few days.

  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! (Yes, all caps and yelling!) Having a birthday after Christmas is the WORST! Everyone is so over the holiday and celebrating and we are left in the dust saying "um, hi......it's my birthday too?" (I'm and after Christmas birthday too {Tuesday}). I'll be 34 and when chatting with my hubs tonight about "can you believe I am THIS old?!" I just can't believe how fast it's gone.

Looks like you had a great birthday, adorable pancakes and all! And Luke's response to being a little monkey cracked me up! My son, Alex, does the same thing!! And I remember when Alex got his first freckle-it's on his cheek and after doing the "mom lick you thumb and rub" thing to get it off for about 10 minutes, I realized it wasn't going anywhere!! Ha!

Happiest of Birthday's!! 2013 will be a great year!!

  2. Happy Birthday!! I am so jealous that you go sushi for your birthday dinner. I can't get Jon to take me, he's not a big fan. Here's to an awesome 2013!!

  3. I love reading all the little Lukeisms. I wish I was better about writing them all down. I think I have too many kids to remember them all. Anyways I would love to hear about your exercise routine. I am looking for something to do a couple days a week when I don't go to Zumba. I hope your birthday was awesome and I can't wait to hear about your party.

  4. Happy Birthday! Love the Angel pancake, how cute is that? I like hearing all the things Luke does cause him and Brigs are so close in age, it's fun. I can't believe they are sunbeams. crazy sauce.

  5. Haha Luke is so funny! I love it. Ryan also doesn't let me sing, stinker. Especially if it is a Daddy song. I forgot to take a picture of Ryan going to primary. I felt so bad as I saw like 50 pictures on FB and Instagram. I am going to take one next week and say "Ryan's 2nd time in Primary!!!" Still cool right? And I have totally left groceries out like that. Even though I only had Annie for 18 weeks, she ruined my brain more than the boys did. I am in trouble if the next one is a girl and I make it to the end. I can't wait to hear what is going on with you guys this year! The suspense is too much to handle! :)
