Holiday Happenings

I interrupt my cruise blog posts to bring you our Holiday happenings.

With all my cruise posting I have got behind on what has been going on in our day to day life.

I find that I am better at writing day to day things than actually posting about trips and events.

I promise to finish up our cruise posting soon.

We have been diving in full force to our Christmas traditions.

We have been watching The Polar Express every.single.day. (Although, today Luke told me, no more Polar Express, no)

Luke got a present in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa Warburton.

We set up the nativity in his room.

We have tried to talk a lot about the true meaning of Christmas and having his own nativity has been a great way to keep reinforcing it.

We have had a couple cups of hot chocolate. Luke makes sure that his isn’t hot, just warm chocolate.

We made homemade snow globes.

We have been playing at the park with friends.

We went to Town Square where they made it snow.

Luke loved running around in it.

Santa was also there in his house if you wanted pictures taken. We waved through the window at him and he quickly came out to say hi to Luke.

Luke got a video from Santa, and for now he is on the nice list.

Luke wants to watch this everyday.

He talks A LOT about Santa, the north pole, and “Missmas time”.

We have received lots of Christmas cards, one of my favorite things about this holiday. I will post mine soon!

Luke received a couple more birthday gifts recently that we have been playing with, one of those is a punching bag and he has thoroughly enjoyed hitting/wrestling that thing.

He also told me the other day that it hasn’t been his birthday yet because he never got a choo choo cake. Whoopsy.

We made homemade sugar cookies and licked decorated with frosting.

We made neighbor gifts and looked at the lights around town while we delivered them.

Luke has pretended to be Santa with bubbles on his face. “Mom, I am Santa, take my picture.”

We watched The Santa Claus the other night. I wasn’t sure if it would keep Luke’s attention, but he did pretty well watching it. I can’t wait until he gets the humor behind Home Alone.

And we attended the Living Nativity.

Tonight I wanted to go to the Ethel M. Cactus garden to visit Santa and look at the lights, but the weather around here has turned really cold and rainy. We will see how it looks tonight.

Tomorrow we are going to take Luke on the Santa train. I am sure he will LOVE it.

Some of Luke’s quotes right now:

Today as we were leaving his Rock N Roll class he said, “Happy Holidays” to the teacher as we walked out. Not sure where he picked that one up.

When I ask Luke to clean up or pick something up he will always say, “I can’t, my arms are breaking.”

He always wants me to tickle him at night before he goes to sleep. I know his tickle spots really well and he gets laughing so hard he can’t stop and starts to yell, “That’s enough, that’s enough, mom!”

Last night while I was making dinner he ran into the kitchen and said, “What’s going on in here?”

One morning I was getting after him about something and he told me I am a mean mom and he only likes daddy. Broke my heart for a minute.

One night I went to check on Luke before heading to bed and I found that Mickey was providing his eye mask for the night.

Hope you are enjoying the magic of the season as well.

One more thing I have to write before I post this.

My heart is breaking about the tragic event I heard about this morning in Connecticut.

I tear up just thinking about it and reading the different news accounts.

I am truly at a loss of words and my stomach is sick.

My thoughts and prayers will be with the town of Newtown as the grieve the loss of these precious lives.
