I feel like I have been gone from Blogging World for awhile, but it really hasn’t been that long.
Maybe it’s because we have been extremely busy these last couple weeks and I have a lot to share with you.
My sister is in town and we have been keeping our little ones on the go.
They have loved spending time together and I am so glad Luke has cousins to play with.
He has taken a real liking to his cousin Isaac who is 4 years old. Luke tries to wrestle him every time he sees him. It is the funniest/cutest thing ever.
Here is a little of what we have been up to (unfortunately, I haven’t taken pictures like I should):
- A trip to the splash pad
- An afternoon at The Red Barn for ice cream
- Pizza at Salem Pond and bread for the ducks
- Fiesta Days Parade
Luke loved the parade. He would point and clap at the fire trucks, balloons, and horses and wave at all the pretty ladies.
- Fiesta Days activities in the park
Luke went to the fish pond and the treasure dig
-An afternoon with the girls ‘trying’ to make homemade greeting cards while keeping the kids entertained
- Park & swim play dates
- Our nephew’s mission farewell
-Celebrating Miss London’s first birthday
And the thing that kept us the most busy was our camping trip.
This wasn’t just any camping trip though. We went to a magical camping spot. One that will be in my childhood memory bank forever.
As a child we always went camping up Nephi canyon over the 4th of July. All of my family, my extended family, my extended family’s friends, and my extended family’s friend’s extended family would go. It was looked forward to all summer long. When I think of my childhood this memory always comes up.
About 7 or 8 years ago it was sold to Camper’s world. A camping organization where you had to be a member to camp there. Lame.
So it slowly dissolved and the 4th of July camping was no more.
This year it was taken back by the previous owners and we jumped at the chance to go.
It was just my immediate family this year, but we decided to make this an annual trip again.
It was a lot of fun. It was the same, but different all at the same time.
My sisters and I decided that we need to just focus on making this a special place for our children even if it isn’t the same for us.
DeGraw style camping is a little different than most. We stayed in cabins that had electricity and the campground has a pool, game room, grass, nice bathrooms and hot showers. It’s perfect.
Our days camping pretty much went like this: eat, hang out, swim, eat, naps, round of bocce ball, snack, board game, hang out, go for a walk, swim, eat, play catch, kid bedtime, games and snacks
Sounds great, huh?
It was.
The only bad part of the trip was when Luke fell. And he fell hard. Hit his mouth on the edge of a cement patio. Cut his lip and gums pretty bad. Had me worried sick.
We made it all better when we let him have a popsicle for dinner.
Besides the mouth incident, it was a great way to spend our week.
Other mentionables going on right now:
- Luke has started to say Hi when he waves to people which he has never done before, but it is the cutest thing ever. When he pretends to the talk on the phone he always says Ello? Papa? Nana?
- When Luke finds something he knows he shouldn’t be playing with (makeup, chapstick, DVD’s) he will hide it behind his back and hurry and shut the door so I can’t see what he is doing. If he can’t shut the door he will lean up against my back with his back so I can’t see him while he tries to open it. He is a sneaky little thing!
- The biggest thing that is on our minds right now is Jared got a new job offer…and, well, it’s not in Utah. Hmmm, lots to think about right now. We will keep you posted.
looks like you guys have been busy and having lots of fun. i love spending time with family. we are on our way to Idaho this week. can't wait!
ReplyDeletei think its so funny when they are being sneaky except when it makes a mess! joss usually runs when she has something she shouldn't and then when i get close to catching her, she throws whatever she has. i guess to distract me!
