Las Vegas: The Plan

We have started to formulate a plan for our big move to the city of sin.

Most everything is still up in the air, but here is what I know so far:

Jared will be heading down to Vegas a week from tomorrow (Saturday, the 20th).

His company is providing an apartment for him to live in until Luke and I come down.

Luke and I will stay behind as I finish wrapping things up here (ie: sell or rent our townhome).

Figuring our what to do with our place is our biggest priority right now. Once we can take care of this it will be a big weight off our shoulders.

Once we are all down there we will probably move into a rental while we scope out neighborhoods and homes that we want to move to.

Preferably we will find a home that doesn’t have a big, neon flashing sign that reads Déjà Vu Girls across the street.

That’s about as far as our plans go.

This week has been filled with packing up boxes.

Didn’t I just do this?

Ummm, yes I did.

And as a side note I counted up all the times I have moved since moving out of my parents home.

Ten.

Yes, ten.

That’s a lot of moving. Especially since for four and a half years I lived in the same place.

Anyway, I have also spent most of my days researching and getting referrals for doctors.

Let me tell you it hasn’t been easy.

It usually results in one of the following outcomes:

Situation 1:

Get a referral. Not in my insurance network. Cross them off the list.

Situation 2:

Get a referral. In my network. Call office to make an appointment. Not accepting new patients or booked with deliveries for the month of October. Cross them off the list.

Situation 3:

Get a referral. In my network. Call office to make an appointment. Accepting new patients. Refuse to schedule my appointment until my insurance is effective in Vegas.

Sigh.

I feel completely defeated in this department.

I think it is going to be hard to leave my Utah doctors behind. I loved my midwife and had such a great experience delivering Luke. I also had a great Perinatologist that was helping me with complications she found at my ultrasound appointment. I will also be leaving behind a great Neurologist that helped me with my post-delivery cluster headaches.

I am starting from scratch and it scares me just a little.

However, this little girl is coming out eventually so I am sure there will be someone there to catch her.

Hopefully it’s not Jared doing the catching in my own bathtub.

Yikes.

Other than that we are plugging along with the move.

I can’t end this post without a picture since my last post didn’t have one. Here is a picture we took of Luke this morning. He found a tube of WATERPROOF mascara and wanted to put it on just like his mommy.

Now I know why I don’t wear waterproof mascara. It doesn’t come off no matter what you do.

  1. You have family in Vegas right? If not, my parents are there and would be happy to help you in any way. They can offer advice or show you around... anything you need. They live in Summerlin. It's a nice area and you might want to look at houses there. It's safe a clean.

  3. Wow what an adventure!! You are like up to your elbows in it too! Good luck, it's hard to make sure every little thing is taken care of, I feel your pain, except I wasn't pregnant when we went through it. I hope your new doc. Will just be awesome and an answer to your prayers. Can't wait to hear more!

  6. Make sure to get a house with a guest room. Cause you know I will be coming for a visit...or just moving in.
