Journey

We are off on a new adventure.

Jared decided to take the job offer I had mentioned previously.

We will be moving to Las Vegas!

No, the job offer isn’t to be a casino blackjack dealer, stripper, or professional gambler.

Dang it.

Oh well, I am sure we will find other hobbies to fill our time.

Moving to Las Vegas is pretty ironic since my sister just moved from there about 2 months ago.

I was so excited to have her back in Utah and now I am the one leaving to the same place she just left.

There are lots of emotions associated with moving at this time in my life, but I ultimately feel this is the right decision.

It is amazing how one decision (big or small) can change the course of your life.

I have experienced this many times in my 30 years. The one decision (thought-out or not) can have a big impact on your future.

In this situation Jared received an email from his former MBA program listing a company in Vegas having an opening.

He told me he was going to apply to see what happens.

When they called him to have a phone interview he said it will be good practice.

Then they emailed him saying they wanted to fly him out for an interview.

Again, he said it will be good practice and if he got the job he would have some room to negotiate a higher salary at his current job.

I told my parents about the interview and I could see the worry. I reassured them that Jared would NEVER move away from his mountains.

I was always the one up for a change, but Jared was firm about staying where his roots are.

When he came home from the interview is when I started to feel that things could change.

He had nothing but good things to say about this company and was excited about the possibility of different job.

I was in shock to hear that he would consider moving, but thought when it came down to it, he would never budge.

So we waited to see what would happen. As we waited Jared talked more and more about the possibility of moving.

At this point I started to get a little anxious.

Would Jared really move?

Nah…

But what if?

I started to have concerns.

My biggest concern was and still is taking Luke away from family.

Along with that, there was:

Six months pregnant, switching Dr., hospital, and insurance…

Selling our beautiful home that we just bought 1 year ago…

Having the support I might need after delivering a new baby…

Finding a new place to live, Jared liking his job, traveling back for Holidays…

and the list goes on.

However, as the days went on I started to have comfort and peace about this whole thing.

I thought, don’t start stressing until I even know if he got the job.

Well, he got the job.

The next days following were an intense decision making party to say the least.

If you didn’t get an invite, be glad.

In the end it was an offer we just couldn’t refuse. It was so generous that I am still blown away.

And guess what?

I still have the comfort and peace I need to make this change.

So here’s to another chapter in our lives of our incredible journey together. (Picture me raising a glass of something sparkling)

Here’s to Jared for being the new VP of Business Development at RMI. (Raising the glass again)

He deserves it.

This is the reason he went back to school.

That one decision of applying for this job will bring about great things for our family.

We are very excited and nervous for all of these changes, but change is good.

Change means growing and evolving. I like it.

I moved away from Utah once before and it was one of the best times of my life.

It was the time where I really grew as a person.

I was the most independent and spiritually strong I have ever been.

I am looking forward to feeling that way again.

I know this journey will be a different. I am going to be a mother of 2 soon and my priorities are different now.

I have relied heavily on my parents to help me take care of Luke. I have loved being so close to them and seeing the relationship Luke has with them.  It is priceless.

With Vegas being fairly close, one of my main goals is to make sure he stills continues to see mine and Jared’s family regularly.

Wish us luck in this process.

We have a long list of things to do.

Jared will be heading down in a couple weeks to start working hard.

I will follow as soon as everything is in order.

Let me know if you want to buy a house, have moving boxes to give away, or want to be our first visitors!
