The Grotto, The Good, The Bad

Jared got home last Saturday from being in Singapore for a week.

We decided we needed to get out as a family and do something fun.

There is nothing like riding up the canyon on a beautiful night.  Especially if it is beautiful Payson canyon.

We stopped off at the Grotto to do a little hiking.

Luke had a blast. He even walked most of the way and loved splashing his stick in the water.

It was so nice to smell and feel the canyon air. Jared’s favorite smell ever is the canyon, especially if it has just rained and there is a campfire nearby.

Jared and I always have a debate over which canyon (Payson or AF) is better. I don’t know how it can get any better than Payson. I also don’t know how this little boy can be any cuter?!

We also saw a deer on the trail on the way back down.

Luke loved watching it and waving Hi.

It was a great way to spend a Saturday night.

Now on to the good and the bad of this week so far:

The good: My sister and her kids have been in town and Luke has LOVED playing with his cousins.

The bad: Luke (and I) will be so SAD when they leave.

The good: Luke fell asleep on me today as I was rocking him and I decided to keep him in my arms and snuggle him. I even fell asleep a little too.

The bad: That rocking chair is not ideal for sleeping or sitting in for long periods of time. I think I will be sore tomorrow.

The good: I am grateful I haven’t had to deal with anymore kidney stones. I am also relieved to know I am not dying like I thought I was.

The bad: Medical bills are one giant swear word.

The good: Ellen is one show that I will actually watch once in awhile during the day. I absolutely love her and as a side note if anyone gets tickets to her show without inviting me there will be consequences. Today I turned it on while Luke was playing with his toys and she made me laugh pretty hard today.

The best: Luke ran over to me when he saw it was on and said DANCE!!

And so we danced with Ellen.

  2. You are an amazing writer. Every time I get to the end of your posts, I am smiling. I feel ya on the swear words. What we do for kids! And I love Ellen too! If Brady is awake while Ryan is sleeping, I like to watch it while snuggling him.

  3. This post has inspired me to go on a day camping trip (I have given up that we will actually go camping this summer) but just a hike, campfire dinner and marshmallows will be perfect. I have seriously not taken advantage of the beautiful outdoors this spring/summer! Your hike looked gorgeous.

I feel you about Ellen, she cracks me up!!!! Will and I have decided to give up TV (just a totally personal choice) and she is one show I am actually really going to miss.

And yes, Luke could not get any cuter! I love that boy.
