Vein/Vain

When I was pregnant with Luke I discovered something on the back on my leg.

It wasn’t pretty.

Not pretty at all.

It was a spider vein.

Even the term is ugly.

I had a minor freak out.

Ok, major freak out.

I quickly order maternity support hose.

My Dr. told me they are common in pregnancy and not a whole lot can be done to prevent them except stay off your feet as much as possible.

Not what I wanted to hear since I was working 10 hour days standing on my feet.

A couple weeks later a lady came to the pharmacy inquiring about what to do about spider veins.

She was pregnant with her fourth and final child and she just started to get them.

I wanted to jump across the counter and show her mine. Tell her she should be grateful she just BARELY got them because I am on my FIRST pregnancy and they are already loud and proud.

What are my legs going to look like on my fourth pregnancy?

I can’t even bare the thought.

Yesterday when I jumped out of the shower I rubbed my legs down with lotion and noticed these creepy things crawling to the front of my leg.

WHAT?!?!
NO!!!

I am not even pregnant!

I quickly gulped down an extra dose of my vein circulation supplement and dug deep in my drawers for the support hose.

I then texted my husband in a panic.

He calmed me down.

I asked him if he thought I was being too vain about my veins? (You can laugh at my cheesy pun)

But really, maybe I am being too vain.

Am I?

However, I am only 29.

29.

I thought I would still have nice looking legs at this age.

What’s going to happen when I am in my THIRTIES and pregnant?

I shutter at the thought.

What’s a girl to do?

*sigh*

  2. Haha I was going to say the same thing about stretch marks. I have them everywhere! Including on my knees! It's a part of growing up (and in my case getting fatter :) But you are still so gorgeous and I know that not one person will notice besides you. You'll be okay. :)

  3. I started getting them a few years ago....before I was pregnant. I was not happy either. Don't ya just love the affects our job has on us. I don't know how you did 10 hour days being pregnant. I think I'm a totally pansy, 5 to 6 hours & I'm so done. Tell Brent he has to pay for that laser treatment for veins, after all it did happen on the job.

  4. Oh, I'm getting those things zapped by my dermatologist once I'm done having kids! I get them right in the crevice behind my knee. They make me feel like a grandma! Yuck, yuck, yuck!!! - Don't even get me started on stretch marks!

  5. I'm right there with ya and I haven't been pregnant at all! They are all on my right leg and I became so "vain" about them this year I even had a procedure back in April to try and get them removed. Well, let me tell you, the laser assisted removal was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my entire life and I've had over 50 surgeries on my eyes and ears so that's saying something! They also did 10-12 injections, or scelerotherapy, and while the after procedure ultrasound said that the veins are closed, I now just have ugly purple, bruised looking veins rather than bright blue veins, so that didn't really work. Alas, I'm still vain about my veins, so I think I'm going to go to another clinic next month after all our traveling at work and see if there's anything else that can be done.
