Happy New Year! Wahoo!

To ring in the new year, Jared and I decided that we would make a trip to his family's cabin and go sledding. This cabin has a lot of memories because it is where Jared and I really started liking each other on a trip over Memorial Day with our ward. We invited Dave and Lindsay to come with us and had such a blast. We started the night out by eating at "The Train" in Heber, then we headed to the cabin. It was quite the night trying to get the cabin warm, the snowplow up and running to plow the driveway, and the 4-wheeler started for sledding, but once that was all done we were up and running. We got all bundled up and went night sledding and it was so scary, but so fun. I just about peed my pants the first time I went down the hill. It's actually a road that is snow packed and it has all the twists and turns like a normal road so you actually have to steer the sled! You get going about 30-40 mph, and remember this is in the dark. We would take turns riding the 4-wheeler down behind the sleds to give a little light and then the 4-wheeler would pull us back up the hill. It was pretty fun just trying to stay on the sled as it pulled you up the hill. We only had a couple of crashes with no injuries, so it was a success.

We got back to the cabin just in time to watch the countdown on TV and ring in the new year with some hot chocolate. Then we decided it was game time. We played games with Dave and Lindsay till about 2:30am. That morning we made breakfast burritos and wanted to go sledding again before heading down. The 4-wheeler wasn't cooperating with us that morning so we had to walk the hill instead. Let's just say we only got to go down a couple of times because of how long the hill was, it was so tiring. Once we got back to town, my parents cooked our annual new year's day dinner. We had prime rib, shrimp and fondue. It was so good as usual. We had such a great time and it was such a memorial holiday.
