Ruby’s birthday fell on a Sunday right along with a very busy weekend, but I still wanted to carve out time as a family to celebrate.
Her celebration started on Friday night while we were in Logan visiting family for my nephew’s baptism.
We went out for sushi and their special that night was the Ruby roll.
We had to get it and try it out.
(It’s the really fancy one in the middle)
It was a favorite of everyone’s.
The next day before heading home my family surprised me with this beautiful painting.
My emotions got the best of me before I even unwrapped it.
I was caught off guard and when I don’t prepare myself ahead of time for things like this I cry a lot.
This picture represents everything I imagine Ruby to be at 4 years old.
I hung it in my office and I look at it everyday.
My mom also dropped off some gorgeous flowers for me to enjoy during her birthday week.
Since Ruby’s birthday was on a Sunday we made sure to dress in our red Sunday best.
I had a couple of friends, who are also angel mothers, drop off some gifts.
One of which was this Willow tree figurine.
It’s called guardian.
I think it suppose to represent how a mother becomes a guardian to a new baby, but I look at it differently.
Ruby is definitely my guardian.
Another friend gave me a sketch drawing of my favorite picture of Ruby.
It is identical to the actual picture and I love it. I can’t wait to get it framed.
After church we had a fancy red dinner.
We had ruby red salmon, roasted red potatoes, rolls, raspberries, sparkling red cider, and red velvet cake.
I put out a red frame on everyone’s plate with a saying that was used at Ruby’s funeral.
I wish I could say it was a a lovely dinner, but it was the typical Warburton dinner of fighting our kids to eat, screaming from Hank, and me and Jared rolling our eyes.
All I could think was that Ruby was laughing at her brothers.
After dinner we left to spend some time at her grave.
We each took a red balloon and wrote her a message.
Then sent them off to heaven.
Then we sang happy birthday to her and she let us share her red velvet cake.
I gave each of the boys a present to open. They were books that we read to them right there.
One of the books is the same one I am giving away from the Ruby giveaways, Razzle Dazzle Ruby.
Luke LOVED this book and thought it was so fun.
We said our happy birthday wishes and our goodbyes and headed home once it was dark.
We continue to think about her each day and we are getting ready to celebrate her angel day.
I’m also participating in the acts of kindness daily that I challenge you to do as well.
Last week I set up a Ruby sewing day with my mom and sisters.
We were able to sew 46 blankets that I’ll be donating to the hospital on her angel day.
I’m so thankful to everyone who has done acts of service and kindness in honor of Ruby.
I’m excited to choose the winners soon so keep the entries coming!
I love all the red. She is definitely loved!
ReplyDeleteWow. You're amazing. 😘
ReplyDeleteI love how, when looking at the Guardian, you say that she is actually yours. You do such a beautiful job celebrating her. The fact that they had a RED RUBY roll at shusti is unbelievable!!! Her name Ruby is so special in that you can see her and remember her in so many, many ways that go along with her beautiful name and all it entails.
