Luke’s Birthday

Luke had an awesome birthday, if I can speak for him.

He woke up to a decorated room, which ended up being anti-climatic since he snuck in our bed in the middle of night and woke up to us instead of the balloons and streamers.

It was the thought that counted on that one.

I kept things simple with candles in a donut for breakfast.

I wanted to get him on a sugar high first thing in the morning.

He couldn’t wait to open presents so we let him before Jared left for work.

He had preschool that day so we made sure to send him with treats to give to everyone.

After school I took him to his favorite place, “Old McDonald’s” (McDonald’s) for lunch and play time.

Hank was content with chicken nuggets and ketchup.

We came back home so Hank could have a nap and Luke could play with his birthday toys.

After nap time, we went to build-a-bear so Luke could pick out a new outfit for his bear that we got on Ruby’s birthday.

He chose a happy birthday shirt, pants, and a cast & crutches.

Random and typical.

We then met up with my sister and her kids for more playtime at Jump On it.

I think the little kids, Hank and Liam, had more fun than the older ones.

The last thing we did that day was take Luke out to eat for dinner.

He really wanted to go to a “Spanish” restaurant so they would sing to him in Spanish.

We chose Los Hermanos even though I knew Luke wouldn’t eat much from their menu (he is a turkey sandwich type of kid).

He had a couple Nachos and called it good and waited anxiously for his song.

This is what happened:

Yep, totally expressionless and shy.

He took one bite of the delicious fried ice cream and said, “I don’t like the crunchies".”

My child, the crunchies are the best part.

Don’t worry, it didn’t go to waste.

Luke kept talking about having a party and wanting surprises, so I decided that I would throw him a family surprise party the following Sunday.

He had no clue and was a little bummed when I told him no party this year.

On Sunday, Jared took him for a drive while I set everything up and gathered all the guests.

It was a Lego themed party and of course I didn’t take any pictures, but it turned out cute, trust me.

Here is what happened when he walked into his surprise:

Pure shock.

There was a lot of people there so I’m sure it was a little overwhelming, but he warmed right up, was ready for cake and ice cream and presents.

He had such a great night and I’m glad it all turned out.

We have an awesome family who is really supportive.

He couldn’t be more loved.

Happy Birthday Luke!

Now hopefully I don’t have to top the surprise party next year.
