Right after Ruby passed away I was connected with a lot of families that had also experienced infant/child loss.
It was comforting to read through other’s stories of loss and grief to help show me that I was not alone.
I can’t remember how I came across this family’s blog, but somehow I came to read about a 7 month old baby girl named, Ruby Jane, that had passed away a couple months before our Ruby from problems with her liver.
She was not able to get a liver transplant in time and passed away on August 12, 2011.
I remember thinking how crazy it was that our little girls had the same name and passed away within a few short months of each other.
If you would like to read more about Ruby Jane and her family go here.
This morning Jared mentioned to me that he read something on Instagram about a family doing a service project to honor their daughter, Ruby, who had passed away 3 years ago.
He thought it was strange the coincidences between our situations.
When I started looking into it I realized it was this same family that I read about 3 years ago.
I did some research and found out that they are doing the coolest service project to honor their daughter and so I thought I would pass the info along to anyone that would be interested in participating.
I love everything about this and agree 100% that service is powerful and can change lives.
It has mine.
How it works:
(Info taken from their blog)
1. Accept the challenge. Each week we will challenge you to an act of service. We will be posting a different idea each week. Our hope is that you will do this service with your friends or family. Serving with others strengths relationships, we have learned that first hand.
2. Spread the love. We want to spread love and joy as we serve each other, together. Please take pictures, when appropriate and tag @servetogether on Instagram with your experience in serving. You can also use the hashtag #servetogether. We hope this service challenge will spread all over.
3. Share. We will be posting stories from our followers on the Blog and on Instagram each week.
4. Watch how the power of service will touch your life and the lives of those you serve.
If you want to take part in this challenge you can read more about it on projectservetogether.blogspot.com
Find them on Instagram at SERVETOGETHER to follow the acts of service challenges.
I’m excited to see how project develops!

Update on Ruby’s 3rd birthday celebration:
1: I’ve started to receive the blankets to donate and I am so excited. I bought and cut all my fabric the other day. Now it is just time to sew.
If you are wanting to make some blankets here is a link to the instructions (super easy).
I will be taking donations of these blankets up until Ruby’s birthday (October 11th) when I will be donating them to hospitals near by.
2: I am still planning on donating some type of angel necklace to be given to those mothers who have lost a child.
I really think it is important for these mothers to be walking out of the hospital with a keepsake.
I couldn’t decide on which one so I’ve ordered a couple to look at in person and then I will make my decision and post pictures of it.
Each necklace will be no more than $5.
I have set up a donation button on the side bar of my blog if you would like to donate money to purchase a necklace (or 2).
If you would rather send me the donation through the mail, please email me (kristinwarburton@hotmail.com) and I will let you know my address.
If you want to wait to see what necklace I choose and the cost for each one before donating that will be great too.
I will be accepting necklace donations up until September 15th.
3: I have received a lot of requests to be a sponsor for a Ruby giveaway and I’m so excited. Thank you!
If you are interested in sponsoring a giveaway let me know, we have room for you!
Those of you that have let me know you want to participate remember to send me your info no later than August 31st!
Thanks again for all your support in celebrating my Ruby!
I LOVE the idea of using social media to do service in remembrance of their baby. I'll be following along!
