Vegas Thoughts

This past weekend we made a quick weekend trip to Vegas.

I have two close friends that have had babies since I have moved and I have been antsy to see them.

We booked our trip knowing that one of them would be giving their baby a name & blessing that weekend.

However, my sister ended up blessing baby Liam the same weekend and I had booked the trip before realizing it.

Not a very good sisterly moment of mine.

Hopefully I can make it up to her.

It was SO great to see our friends and meet baby Archer & baby Jane.

Our Vegas ward had a Cinco De Mayo party that weekend and so we got to attend and see all of the people we miss dearly.

The trip had both good and bad moments and left me in deep thoughts when I got back.

Here are a few of those thoughts, along with some other observations:

* If I am going to travel while pregnant I need to understand that my pregnancy brain comes with and that means a lot of misplaced items along the way.

* Vegas is not the place that I want to be long term. I knew this when we moved back to Utah, but I wasn’t so sure I was ready to leave yet.

* Avoid the Vegas strip at all costs. We rarely ventured down to the strip while living there and now I remember why.

* Vegas has much better yard sales than Utah.

* I’m a Utah girl at heart.

* Good, close friends that I see often are essential for complete balance in my life.

* I’m baby hungry.

* I know Utah is where I want to settle to raise my family, however, I am unsettled with what city I want to live in.

* Buying snacks at a movie theatre is a complete rip off.

* I miss my lifestyle and friends in Vegas more than ever.

* I have said this before, but traveling with a child is NOT a vacation. It is a trip, but it is no vacation.

* My husband’s mood changes when entering Nevada and instantly changes back when arriving in Utah.

* Jared and I need “couple friends”.

* I am tired of living in a temporary place. I am ready to find a permanent home with permanent friends/neighbors. Being able to make a house my own where I have a creative outlet is also essential for complete balance in my life.

I will end on a good note:

* The Paris Hotel & Casino has yummy crepes.

This is the only picture we captured all weekend:

As we were driving down, Luke kept waking up saying his legs were hurting.

I don’t know if he was having growing pains or just uncomfortable in the car.

When we were almost to St. George we pulled off an exit to get him out, let him stretch and calm him down.

The next morning I couldn’t find his shoe anywhere.

The only thing I could think of is that it had fallen out of the car when we open up the door to get him out.

On our way back to Utah I told Jared to stop off at the same exit to see if his shoe was there by chance.

When we pulled up there it was, a little dusty, but waiting for us to snag it back up.

We never are lucky in situations like this so I was pretty happy to find that shoe!

  1. We're so glad you were able to come visit; dang it that you had to miss Liam's blessing. Someday if you guys are living in Utah County or wherever, and if we're living around St. George, we'll have to have a cabin or something halfway in between so we can meet up often. Whoever makes a million dollars first builds it, k? Ready, go! ;)

  2. I just want to give you a hug. Maybe we can meet up this week. I think it's great to write down the things that bring balance to life, because sometimes we just forget. I love you found the shoe! Haha and it was the only picture you took. Awesome!

  5. I think your pregnancy brain is doing pretty good to remember all that stuff. I am laughing about the shoe.
