Girls/Boys Weekend

This past weekend I flew to San Diego to meet up with one of my closest friends, Jen, for our annual girls weekend.

Some of you may not know that I lived in San Diego for 2 years when I was married to my first husband.

Other than despising my job and my marriage falling apart while there, I love San Diego.

It was a great place to live and I made life long friends.

Another side story about San Diego is that after I moved back to Utah I had booked a trip to visit Jen to throw her a baby shower.

I had just met Jared and even though we had only been dating about 3 weeks I invited him to come along.

I was surprised when he accepted, but super excited because it would have been hard not seeing him every day (yes, we were that lovey couple from the get go that had to see each other daily).

I have great memories of Jared and I there.

I was excited to go back to San Diego last weekend since it had been awhile.

Plus, I got to finally meet Jen’s twin babies.

I have been feeling like an awful friend for not seeing them sooner, they were born on Ruby’s one year birthday and are 6 months old now.

I arrived Thursday night and stayed at Jen’s place.

The next morning we drove to Corona where we spent the day at Glen Ivy Hot Springs.

It was a day spa and oh so wonderful.

We usually change up what we do each year, but this might be the place we go from here on out.

We relaxed, ate yummy food, did water aerobics, got massages, lounged in the pools and painted ourselves with mud.

I really want to go back when I am not pregnant because I was limited to certain pools and activities, but it was still great (one of us is always pregnant on these trips, I called not it for next year).

Jen and I planned on having quiet time to read and write, but when we get together all we do is talk, talk, talk.

We stayed in a hotel the rest of the weekend and had girl time.

We spent the next day shopping, eating, and trying out new beauty tricks including a coconut oil hair mask, hair chalk, and mani/pedis.

It was such a great weekend and so needed for the both of us.

Although, I am thinking we might need to start doing this bi-annually.

Jared was so great to take time off work to watch Luke while I was away.

He was super dad while I was gone and kept Luke busy the whole time with manly things.

They went on a bike ride, a fishing/boat trip, got the garden ready, and ran lots of errands.

I even came home to a clean house.

Yes, I am lucky.

I was looking forward to this trip for a long time and it was everything I thought it would be.

I already miss Jen and those babies of hers!

Now that this trip is over we are getting everything ready to meet baby boy.

Not too much longer, we are getting pretty anxious!

  1. Glad you had a good time! I am getting so excited to meet your new baby boy! Forgive me for saying this, but this seems like the longest pregnancy ever...probably because I'm anxious for you to meet him!! :)

  2. How fun. Looks like a great weekend and I it is so nice that everything was so well taken care of at home. I can't wait to meet the new little guy either. I am excited that I will be home for that.
