A couple weekends ago, Jared and I went out on a hot date.
We planned a night out to see “The Great American Wild West Show”.
It turned out it wasn’t such a hot date after all.
In fact, it was more like a big, fat belly flop in an empty pool.
That is all I will say about it, except I would never go again or recommend it.
Nuff said.

Last weekend Jared ran the Utah Valley Half Marathon.
Time: 1 hr 41 min
Luke and I went to watch him come in at the finish line.
I felt like I had also ran the marathon trying to get myself and Luke out the door by 7am to see him come in.
It was a win-win for both of us.
We were very proud of Jared. He really is an amazing athlete.
We treated him to a day at seven peaks afterwards.
We all crashed about 1pm that day.

For the past couple of weeks Luke has decided to be a picky eater.
I don’t know if I can even say he is picky when he turns his nose up to just about everything I offer him.
What happened to my awesome eater?
He use to eat anything I put in front of him including half of mine too.
He won’t even eat a banana, which if you have seen him eat a banana in the past you would be worried too.
Now he is a food snob.
We had pizza last night. He took 3 bites and that was the end of that.
What little kid doesn’t like pizza for dinner?
I thought I had him for sure on the pizza, but his snobbish ways make no exception.
For instance, this is what he has ate today and it is 5pm:
2 French toast sticks (which were pretty much forced by pulling out every trick in the book)
Strawberries and banana: untouched
3 bites of a sandwich
6 grapes
1/2 granola bar
I don’t think this is a healthy diet for an 18-month old.
I am even a mean mom and I don’t let him get a snack between breakfast and lunch just so he is extra hungry at lunch. Even that isn’t working anymore.
Gosh, if I was able to only eat what he eats I would be a happy camper. Too bad food is my best friend nowadays.

In other news:
Tonight we are going to the PG Strawberry days Rodeo. This is Jared’s favorite time of year. He breaks out his belt buckle that he won when he competed in Wild Cow Milking. Those cow milking days came to a halt when I saw what they actually had to do. Now he just has to enjoy it from the stands. Oh, and Luke looks extra cute in his boots.
Tomorrow Jared is turning 32. He is old. I look forward to heckling him all day.
Friday and Saturday Jared is running the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay Race. He is excited about it. Me, not so much as it will be a lonely weekend.
I washed the remote in the washing machine today. I hope I can get it working again.
And in Luke news, he has taught himself how to click his tongue. I love it.
sorry about the not so hot date. Your hubs is amazing running a 1/2 in that time. Impressive. And as for picky eaters, I have my share. It is frustrating. I just keep offering those good choices and hope they take to it at some point. I hear between 16-20 months or so their taste really changes...so he will not be this way forever...I hope.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post. It was so fun to read. :) It actually sounded like a journal entry which I've been thinking about doing more of on my blog.
ReplyDeleteRyan goes through spurts of not eating anything and then eating everything again. Usually it last a few days to a few weeks. Don't worry, he'll be back before you know it!
Congrats on the new little one! You liar! I had to tell that lie a time or 2 also.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that you shouldn't force kids to eat and that they will eat when they are hungry. You should pick what time and what they are going to eat but they should choose how much. It is hard to do but I have realized that she won't let herself starve. Last night Lexi wanted a hotdog at 3 A.M. and that is the only time I put my foot down. Good luck with the picky eater, it is frustrating.
Congrats to Jared and good luck on the Ragnar.
Way to go Jared. That time is very impressive. Good luck with the Ragnar race.
ReplyDeleteAs for Luke that sounds like a typical toddler diet. My doctor told me that you can't force what goes in or when it comes out. That is the only thing a toddler has control of. He will bounce back and have a huge appetite next week. they go in spurts. Good luck with the remote.
