Love at first ride!

Yesterday my new bike arrived! I had it delivered to work and it got there around lunch time. Of course, I had to take it out of the box and set it up right away. It was all I could do to keep myself from ditching work for the afternoon and heading out for a ride. But, I waited until work was over with and then went on my first ride. It was love at first sight and love at first ride. I rode over to Pleasant Grove and rode some trails in the foothills. I was amazed at how well the bike handled. I feel much more in control on this bike than I did on my old one. Tonight after work I rode the trail we affectionately refer to as "death" above the water tanks in Orem and dropped down into Provo canyon. Yet again, I loved the way the bike performed and was impressed with it's climbing ability and its handling on technical downhill.
So, what kind of bike is it you ask? Well, here are the details. It's a Trek 69er. Don't get any dirty ideas, the bike gets its name from having a 26" rear wheel and a 29" front wheel. This is a design that my all-time mountain biking hero, Travis Brown invented. The larger front wheel allows you to roll over obstacles much easier than a traditional 26" wheel. It also helps prevent you from going over the handle bars on steep drops. The 26" wheel in the back allows for faster acceleration and better maneuverability than full-on 29er (both wheels 29") bikes. Needless to say, I love it. I found it on eBay for a really good price. It came with awesome components, including XTR brakes and derailleurs.
