It’s time for another house tour room reveal.
This is a room I just barely re-did this past month.
It didn’t need much, just a little sprucing up.
Jared thought I was a little crazy when I said I needed to decorate the laundry room.
You need a pretty space to make you want to do laundry.
The only thing I don’t love about it is, it is on the main level and not on the top floor with the bedrooms.
It wasn’t a deal breaker when buying the house, but if I were to build a home we would definitely put it where the bedrooms are.
I can’t complain though because there once was a time that I didn't have a washer and dryer at all in my home.
While living in San Diego I went to the Laundromat on a weekly basis for 2 years.
That’s when I got hooked on Dancing with the Stars.
I purposely went on Thursday nights when the little old lady who owned the Laundromat would have the TV on Dancing with the Stars.
It definitely made the time go faster and I usually could get all my laundry done in that hour.
Having a washer and dryer in the home is definitely a luxury I don’t take for granted.
I also went without a dishwasher for 4 years, but I will save that story when I need more sympathy.
Here is a before shot of the laundry room:
Welcome to my laundry room: (Sorry for the camera phone shots, not quite as nice of pictures)
I left the room painted the green and added some rugs I already had.
I got some paper mache letters, spray painted them and hung them on the wall.
I found super cute baskets at Homegoods to organize all the “laundry stuff”.
The Fluff & Fold sign is also from Homegoods and the grass plant is from IKEA.
I hung a vinyl saying on the wall to add something to that side of the room and a few accessories on the counter and called it good.
This also may be weird, but it bugged me that my ironing board cover didn’t match the room since it is hanging in plain sight, so I made a new one using the old one as a pattern.
Now it is organized and pretty.
I’ve also done a few small projects to some of the rooms I have already showed on here.
I have felt that both Luke & Hank’s rooms needed just something more so as I brainstormed ideas I thought that some vinyl decals would be a great touch.
Vinyls were such a big thing for awhile and then they faded, but now I feel like they are coming back with some fun geometric shapes and patterns.
I decided to take the geometric pattern that is in Luke’s bedspread and put it on the wall.
That side of the wall just needed a little something.

And I couldn’t leave out Hank, so I added a trail of metallic silver stars over his crib.

While I have been busy doing these projects, Jared has been working hard building this:
Luke is so excited he has his own swing set.
I’m excited that he has something to do when I send him outside.
He has made sure to include binoculars, a pirate ship wheel, a sandbox, a slide, a rockwall, a ladder, a swing, a glider and a baby swing for Hank.
What more could a kid want?
I still have a lot more of the house to show so I’m hoping to finish posting it all very soon.
It all looks so great!! My husband also thought it was crazy when I wanted to change up our laundry room....but he quit questioning when the laundry started getting done more often. :) And I love the embellishments to the boys rooms! And the play structure is awesome! I wish the backyard of our teeny town home had room for something like that. It would be so fabulous to just send the boys out to play! Super cute stiff!
ReplyDeleteI love it all! I seriously want to enlist your help someday. I think you are so talented. And that play set is awesome! Way to go Jared! I hope you get lots and lots of peaceful hours while Luke is outside playing.
ReplyDeleteI love that you made a custom ironing board cover. And that play set is awesome. To have a yard...sigh. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt all looks awesome. You are getting really good with your silhouette. The play ground looks awesome. Way to go Jared and Kristin.
