Valentine’s & President’s Day Weekend

Jared and I decided to have our Valentine’s date the day before to avoid crowds.

It also freed up Valentine’s day to spend it as a family.

Even though it was Friday the 13th (dun, dun, dun) it was a really great night.

We also really stink at taking pictures. I think we got out of the habit when I refused to have my picture taken after the onset of Bell’s.

Even though there are no pictures to prove what we did I still wanted to write it down.

We had a babysitter come watch the boys so we could actually talk during dinner without complete chaos going on around us.

We chose Blue Lemon and it was perfect.

The food was great and it was fast with minimal crowd.

After dinner we went to see a movie because going to a  theatre is quite the luxury with little ones around.

We saw The Imitation Game, and I like it.

I like any movie that is based on a true story with history mixed in.

Luke has been talking about Valentine’s day all month.

He has been making gifts and decorations and saying, “this is going to be the best Valentine’s day ever!”

I didn’t want to let him down so I made sure to  make it a special day.

We started the morning with donuts that had sprinkles and hearts on them.

We then exchanged gifts.

Luke made a heart vase at Home depot’s build and grow workshop.

He painted it and then worked all week on making different hearts to put inside.

It was awesome and so sweet.

A couple weeks ago he found a little piece of a granite rock that he picked up for his rock collection.

He made Jared take him to grandpa’s house to have him polish it up.

He even asked him to cut it into a heart shape.

Grandpa dropped off the rock the night before Valentine’s day so Luke could give it to me.

It was made into the perfect necklace.

Luke really went above and beyond!

I know the way to Luke’s heart as well…LEGOS.

I gave him a new game to play along with a new Lego set.

I also decided it would be good to take him to a matinee.

We saw Paddington Bear and he loved it.

I may or may not have taken a little nap.

We picked up a heart shaped pizza for dinner, threw a blanket on the back lawn and had a picnic.

Jared and I spent President’s day finishing up the details on our half bath remodel.

That night I took Luke to a play at the Scera Shell theatre.

We saw Pinkalicious, based on the book.

Luke laughed the whole time and I loved that it was short and sweet.

The rest of the weekend was spent outdoors swinging and playing.

I can’t believe this weather.

I’m worried how hot it is going to be this summer.

We also made a stop at the Puppy Barn to ooh and ahh over the adorable puppies.

Hank was in pure heaven.

I think if anyone could talk Jared into a puppy it would be Hank.

And here is a Valentine poem to sweeten your February:
