Lately…

Not a whole lot has been happening lately, but I still feel the urge to write tonight.

My days (and nights) are filled with taking care of two children non-stop.

It kind of feels like groundhog’s day, but it resets itself after 3 hours instead of 24.

Feed, sleep, poop.

Repeat.

Oh, the life of a newborn.

Hank has been such a sweet baby though.

He is 5 weeks today and I wonder where the time has gone.

Seriously.

5 weeks when I was still pregnant seemed liked an eternity.

He LOVES to be cuddled and held and I usually oblige.

He has been smiling and cooing at us since 4 weeks, which seems really young to be doing that already, but he is and I can’t get enough.

Luke has been a great helper and asks me all day long if Hank is tired or hungry.

Luke always mimics everything we say to Hank and it cracks me up.

He also calls him Hanky Panky, which is my fault, but it makes me laugh every time.

Lately, I have just been trying to keep Hank on a schedule to get him sleeping better at night.

Minus a few nights, he has been doing pretty well, waking up once.

Last night was rough and I am exhausted, but crossing my fingers tonight will be better.

Luke was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks and I worked hard to get to that point.

I think it might take Hank a little longer, but I am determined to get him to that point soon.

Sleeping training is so hard, I almost forgot how hard it is. Almost.

However, I know it is so worth it.

Luke still sleeps 12 hours at night without waking and it is heaven.

I’m too old to be sleep deprived.

I can see why people start having children at 20 years old.

I definitely had a lot more energy back then.

My bell’s palsy is still in full force.

It’s been 8 weeks yesterday and it’s still going strong.

No end in sight yet.

I think I deserve to go have a full makeover once my face isn’t messy anymore so I can finally feel normal again.

I think the biggest thing going on in our life right now is that we have an offer on a home and we close on it next week.

Super excited.

I have been spending my late night feedings scouring pinterest for decorating ideas.

I’m excited to finally start decorating and making a place our own again.

I think Jared is just as excited.

He is actually out and about right now searching out paint colors.

It might be a little crazy with a newborn moving and having house projects going on, but hopefully it will be a smooth transition.

I just ordered Hank’s birth announcement today and I will try and post his newborn photos on here soon.

For now here are some snapshots of my sweet boy:

  3. Yes, I need to know your sleep schedule tricks, too. STAT. :) You totally deserve a fun makeover. And I can't wait to see what great stuff you do with your new house. So fun!!! Stacie was just saying today that every time you post a picture of Hank it looks like a totally different baby. I think I have to agree. Maybe he's just changing so quickly or maybe it's the angles, but seriously he does look different from picture to picture. He's soooo cute!

  5. Oh sleep training, I am such an advocate but more than a little nervous about it this time. I have never HAD to be on the go like I am now with one in preschool and one in elementary. This should be interesting....
