Today is the anniversary of Ruby’s passing.
She passed away in our arms around 1:00pm at Sunrise Hospital.
Letting her go was definitely the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life.
I remember everything from that day.
I was so glad that we finally got to hold her without all the wires attached.
I got to put her up on my chest and rock with her.
It was a beautiful experience.
Instead of dwelling on her death I want to continue to share the love today by hosting one last giveaway.
It is a goodie bag full of some of my favorite things, all red of course.
Red nail polished named Ruby Ruby.
My favorite earrings from Stones In Bloom. I have a couple pair of these clay flowers and they are so cute.
A red ruffled scarf. I am a huge fan of scarves and when I saw this in PA while visiting my sister I knew it would be perfect for the giveaway.
A handmade corsage by me using Halfmoon Ruby fabric.
A butterfly Christmas ornament (has a clip on it, can put it anywhere)
A small red picture frame (This is the same type of frame I used to display quotes in at Ruby’s funeral and birthday party)
The whole bundle will be given away together.
I am going to make it easy on you to enter.
Leave me a comment telling me what your family’s Halloween costumes are going to be.
I will announce the winner a week from today.
Good luck and be especially kind today!
**Scroll down to the next post to see a beautiful goodbye video of my beautiful baby Ruby**

ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful giveaway to remember your sweet Ruby. I can't imagine the hurt and pain you have gone through but I am so inspired by your faith and understanding that you will be with your sweet baby again.
ReplyDeleteThis year my hubby is going to be Phil Robertson from "Duck Dynasty" and I am going to be Korie, his wife. Our almost 2yr old daughter is going to be an Elephant, hopefully, as of now she HATES her costume!

I was thinking of you already today, Kristin, remembering this was that anniversary for you. My prayers are with you. October 31st is the day my baby died, and we haven't had the heart to celebrate Halloween since then, but I do wish everyone else a wonderful time together. We will be at our family's favorite chinese restaurant that night. :)
ReplyDeleteI did a small act of service two days ago in Ruby's memory. An older lady needed help at the gas station figuring out how to use her discount card, and I stayed and helped until I was sure she was all right. I thought of Ruby the whole time, and was grateful for the opportunity.
How could anyone watch that video without tissues? I'm so glad you have all those great pictures of Ruby. I've been thinking about you guys the last couple weeks and especially today. I love how positive you are about celebrating her life- she is the perfect little angel and I know she has felt extra special these last couple weeks. You truly are an inspiration, Kristin.
ReplyDeleteAnd well, you already know our costumes this year ;) We are the unoriginal pirates (not nearly as good as your costumes!). stacie214@hotmail.com
You've been on my mind today. I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling, yet you are serving and giving so much to others! You are quite an inspiration. I'm impressed at your ability to focus on the positive.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'd love to have coordinated costumes, but none of the children are on board with my ideas. So we have a ninja, superwoman, my little pony, and Yoda.
stephaniebladen@gmail.com
Thinking of you today...and always. Macy is Pocahontas, Witt is Brave, Tom is a jail inmate and I am a cop. (I am going to be a pirate for school that day though). Thanks for all the inspiration the last 15 days have provided...I've loved reading everyones good deeds and service projects.

I've been thinking of you and your beautiful family! And I've loved your giveaway idea! It's really been a beautiful reminder to me to find simple ways to serve. I haven't entered yet, but I wanted to for sure today. Wish Nate and I were dressing up, well, if you count "BYU/ Husker fans" as dressing up... but the boys will be frankenstein and a power ranger this year.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing Ruby's story. I think your idea of remembering her life by having these giveaways is one of the most selfless acts I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteThis year for Halloween my three youngest are going going to be Bane, a cheerleader and Iron man. My three oldest are going to be moody teenagers and my husband and I are going to be crazed parents.
Been thinking a lot about you today. I am simply amazed by how strong you are. You really are a class act. As for our costumes....Aaron and I are going as Sheldon and Amy from Big Bang Theory, Adri will be Smurfette, Van will be Herbie the Love Bug, and Quinn will be a monkey.
ReplyDeleteyrice2002@yahoo.com
Krisin, hugs and kisses coming your way today! Hope you are okay. Can't tell you what Pete and I are going to dress up as....you will see tomorrow!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of you all day today. Love this give away! Brock is going to be a skeleton. :)
ReplyDelete^^ that was Danielle
ReplyDeleteKristin, you have made me cry. : ( The image of you holding her and rocking is making me a sad mess right now. How amazing are you guys. And how awesome that you have been doing this give away in her honor. I've been thinking about you a ton these past 15 days. Thank you for encouraging us all to do service. Whew, okay. Now that that's out of my system... I was planning on us being S'mores for Halloween! Derek & I would be Graham Crackers, Titan a chocolate bar, and Claire a marshmallow.
ReplyDeleteAhh Kristen, you are so strong and graceful about this. I can't believe it's been a year. I am still sad for you and your loss but know that Ruby will be yours forever. Much love! I hope you have a good day with your family.
ReplyDeleteAs for Halloween... Harper is going to be Ariel (of course) and so is Hazelnut. Colt and I are not dressing up.
Kristin....you are amazing! Ruby is one lucky Angel baby to have such a wonderful mommy. Your strength and courage this last year has been nothing short of heroic! You are my hero. You have, through your words and example, showed that you really can love what ever comes your way. I know that it hasn't been easy on you, but I want you to know that you are such an example to me and someday I hope to be as amazing as you are now! I am so glad that you moved here to Vegas and that I get to be your friend. I am a better person because of you!
ReplyDeleteFor Halloween this year Lucas is an Astronaut and Kayleigh is a princess! We are missing you today at the trunk or treat. We'll have to get the kids together when you get back for a quick picture ;)
