A post about friendship

I went to lunch today with one of my most favorite people.

This is Jen.

We met when we both moved to San Diego the same week. She lived one block away from me. I could walk to her house through an alleyway. This was a big deal to be able to walk to someone’s house in San Diego, and I walked it frequently.

We started serving in Young Women’s together and were instantly bonded. We had a lot in common even though we came from different backgrounds. She grew up on the east coast, served a mission, and is a Neuropsychologist. I don’t even know what that is, but I do know that she is super smart.

When she called to tell me she was making a quick trip to Utah this week, we just knew we needed to get together. I asked her where we should go to lunch. She said Cafe Rio. See we even like the same food.

It was so nice to see her again. I miss her. She was my rock while I was in San Diego and she has seen me through thick and thin. Every time we get together I beg her to move to Utah. Hopefully one day she will give in.

It is great to have a friendship with someone that doesn’t require work. It is the type of friendship that we can go a month without talking to each other, but still know that our friendship is strong. It is the kind of friendship where she would fly out to surprise me at my wedding and then quickly fly home the next day to return home to her infant son. She is the friend that as soon as she met Jared, she said, he is the one for you.

Neither one of us likes to talk on the phone (I think she despises it more than me) so it is bliss when one of us can travel to see each other. We always have too many things to talk about that it makes it hard to part. It leaves me thinking that we don’t spend enough time together. It’s nice to have a friend like Jen. I hope she feels the same about me.

  1. I am sure she does. You are a great friend to her. I am happy that you can spend time with her. I know what it feels like to have a BFF. I believe it is one of the best blessing from HF. Not everyone has a BF. You really are so lucky. I am happy and thankful you have her.
